Natural Gas bill

For same period, 2017 and 2018. 64 therms in 2017 vs. 81 therms in 2018. Colder this year of course, plus I was using the gas dryer a lot more, doing my mother's laundry. $88.48 for a monthly bill last year, $116.49 this year. Last year's rate was lower, too, at $1.785 in 2017 vs. $1.931 in 2018.

 

What I would really like to know is what the bill would be if I wasn't burning wood.
I don't consider the gas bill to be outrageous, considering the cable TV bill (plus internet) is $119.99!

 

looks like my electric bill!! how much wood you burn? my last oil deivery in Dec. was 191.7/gal.(45 days) waiting for next one soon,will use around a ton of brick near the 20th or so.

 

When not burning wood for a cold month like we just had, my gas bill would be over $500.

 

I burn about 3 cords per heating season, most of it free. Last spring I bought a load of red maple rounds from a tree service, but that will be burned next winter. This year everything I'm burning was scrounged.

 

your a lucky person, would love that price. cordwood down here $3-350/cord, brick is good alternative at that price. as a side, I was born at Mem'l hosp. in your town, spent the first week of my life at 63 marshall st. Grand parents house.

 

I've burned wood bricks in the past, mostly in April and May when I'm out of firewood! I like them all right, especially mixed with some real wood. And, I delivered my son at Memorial ( now SNH med ctr.). Marshall St. isn't far from me.

 

one more a side, my mom and dad met at J.F. McElwain which became Thom McAn. my mom was named Miss McElwain of 1931. old things people carry around with them, fond memories of Nashua in 50-60's. Holman was the first large ballpark in my memory, alot of history on that field Nashua Dodgers - Wikipedia. got off topic but obviously close to my heart

 

I have some old years-of-service lapel pins from McElwain. They turn up at estate sales here.

My dad was the union rep from mid 30's till '44. He was 4F do to V.veins, served a air warden. Paid an amazing $75/wk. In 44 still making $75 left for small supplier before going on his own. His company still alive but barely, not many shoes made here any more. amazing collection, small world.

Yeah, watch what you wish for...they run one down our road...its probably not 200' from my front door...but high pressure, no taps!

My brother can't tell me exactly what he pays for NG per therm either including delivery charges.

I see this same deception when I ask people what they pay for electricity here. They'll tell me 15¢, but it's not 15 cents it's 25 cents because you have to pay for delivery. But if you look at a typical residential bill the delivery charges are a long list of charges of fractions of pennies that I guess the typical bill payer just ignores. Unbelievable.
