That's where I think a good hardwood shines , very little dust and fines slides down the hopper .

Agree on this! Hardwoods do slide better.

$2.55 / gal. #2 oil is the "break even" point here vs. pellets @ 275/ton - so it's a "wash" here currently. * We'd burn pellets anyway.

Burning fresh (2017) Satisfaction (LG) pellets again, and they're burning a little hotter (212F vs. 205F avg.) vs. the 2016 batch.

    * We'll see if that holds true, for the rest of the season.. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Oil is between $2.79-$2.99 around here.... and pellets are still $248.
So that makes it even better...

Last bag of Cleanfire pacific blend went in this morning, dumped a bag of TSC Currans on top. E2 eats em all and 9 f. outside and I'm 76 f. All good. Younger son can get Cleanfires for $5.60 a bag at his work co I got a few to try when its cold. Chows have been the steady day to day pellet this year.

I have found my old standby's, Vermonts, burn hotter and almost as clean as any pellet I've tried. No sense looking for something better any more.

Burning some fresh fall 2017 hazelnut shells.

A low yield this year, but very good stuff.
Every so often from year to year we will see more broken nut meats in the mix and that adds a lot more oils and HEAT
A couple years ago the plant installed a stick remover device that gets rid of most of the small twigs that get swept up during harvest.

A thumb sized stick can break an auger motor or coupling.. NOT GOOD

We still screen all of it before it hits the stoves.

I'm burning a mixture of hardwood pellets, mixed in with some corn. Corn is cheaper to burn around here at 3.20 a bushel. :D

Maine's Choice back in the hopper of the P61a. With the stove shutting itself down for fairly long periods of time now, and temps in the 40's, no need to run the good stuff. Stove cleaning happening this weekend anyway so I don't care about the massive ash it will produce.

Hmmm, talked with my neighbor who had this issue on their P43 or P38 (dont remember which they have) on the 802's. I didnt have the problem with the P68 so I wonder if the angle of the hopper is more prone to this on some pellets. I told them to use graphite or something to lube the hopper.
