-5F here, going down around -10. Furnace full of White Oak. Supposed to get warmer after tomorrow thankfully. I've got a ton of outdoor stuff I'd like to get done now that the Holidays are behind us.
4 here heading for -4, 71 inside. Burning down coals, going to be loading beech, hickory & locust soon all 4 & 5 year seasoned, yeah baby.....even split some smaller so I can stuff it full. Did I ever tell ya I love the way the stove burns at these temps.
Ok so I may not be as old as some folks to remember years and years back, and also as time passes ot memory of such event becomes more blurry over time, but this is the coldest period of this length that I can remember for a long time I think we got close about 6 or 7 years ago but I think this cold spell has been colder and lasted a but longer than the last one I remember. This is thinking back over the the last 15 years or so that I have lived in upstate SC.
In 2014 we had 67 days at or below 0f 20 cord thru the boiler . Wood that year was doubled the consumption almost. -20f here and Dragons are making slabs disappear at a serious rate. Heat550 Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
-28c now and supposed to get chillier tonight with a big breeze all day outta the North. Elm is brewing till tomorrow for sure. Rain by Thursday?
-14F at 05:50. But the wind is just bad news.Wow. Weather app says real feel is - 30 right now. And it feels it. Ash and more Ash in the Wood Gun.
So being in SC, maybe some of your neighbors that think you might not have "both oars in the water" with your firewood thing might be starting to understand
We're only at -6, but someone didn't wake up to feed the boiler last night. Everything was down to 70*, not too bad. I was on the tractor for 7 hours Thurs night/Friday morning and that really messes up my "beauty sleep" anymore .
-3 & I opened the air to the box about 1\2 hour ago to burn some coals. More class A fuel on deck, supposed to get up to 8 above today with -17 wind-chill. Going out with a good friend for a run at some black powder venison.
Yup. Below zero, not below freezing! That same winter, there were a few OWB owners (around here) that ran out of wood and ended up draining the OWB in order to prevent freeze up.
-3 with a feel of -20. Today should get to 10, tomorrow will be mid 20's. Then three days of near 30 temps.
