I think it clouded up a little more than the forecast showed and only got down to 9. That's also the high today. I'm tired of this weather...need to get these kids out of my house for a while. We haven't been above 15* since before Christmas and that just doesn't happen that often around here.

Hoping my son's BB tournament will get cancelled tomorrow due to the cold. It's long drive, wait around all day to play 2 games deal. Neither one of us want to go.

Got lots of projects lined up for the weekend....hope I can get them all done.

Time to get back to work.

Oh dear. The weather back east sounds nasty. Here in our neck of the woods, I was looking at the grass and thinking it needs cutting and the flower beds need weeding. Temps have risen to 41 F/5 C and it is pouring rain outside so I won't do either job. I might hide in the sewing room today once the other chores are done. Three days left until I have to go back to work. Everyone have a good weekend.

Why can't they just call it a snow storm?

Here Dennis, if a storm comes up the coast the wind comes in from the north east, a rare occurrence, usually a bigger storm commonly called a Nor'easter, last March we had drop 42 inches. Where if storm comes from west, which is more common usually no more than a foot.

Nor'easter at least. Inland from the coast it was more of a good snowstorm. With the winds picking up moisture from the ocean and rotating inland, it can cause heavy bands of snow with blizzard-like conditions.

I think it helps the public realize the severity of the storm. One rescue was a flooded house and the resident climbing out of a second story window, onto the porch roof and into a front loader bucket.

Kind of like saying snowstorm by the Great Lakes, is a little different than saying 'lake effect' snow.

Certainly not uncommon for wind to be from NE during a storm but more typically seems to be from SE. But here it is laughable when the eastern folks make a big deal out of their northeasters but they are basically like any other storm. Just putting a name to it to make it sound special.

I thank God for our first responders and National Guard who were there to help these families.

Idk. A snow storm here might drop 3-8". Lake effect, depending on how warm the water is and how cold the wind is, can drop 24" overnight, and it usually lasts 3 or 4 days

Exactly my point, just let's us know what to expect. One is no big deal, the other means kids are off school and make sure you got enough fuel for the snowblowers, and no big deal.
