You stole my dinner! (LOL) That is what we had here! Katie likes to use her breadmaker and I am not complaining! (Good for Mrs Papi...and Katie I suppose)
I hear you, but honestly...and this is the straight up truth no joking, the shelves are probably bare. They were probably bare yesterday. They say "Blizzard" and people flock to the stores before the snow hits. I think it is the soothsayers (also known as weather forecasters) are in cohoots with the owners of stores to drum up sales. This last part is in jest, BUT that is how it works. Ever since that storm back in October where they missed the mark and it was the worst power-outage we ever had, now every storm they put a disclaimer out there..."Power outages might occur"...sends people into a frenzy.
Stay safe, you New Englanders!! What a horror story. Down here we got barely a dusting, but the winds were vicious. Came home from work to find one of my stacks blown down. Funny, it was a windy day that blew dust and sawdust all over me when I stacked it in the spring, and it was blowing crud in my face tonight. Yuck.
Should probably start a new thread, but this storm is causing me big trouble with my stove. Blowing tons of smoke inside the house. Smoke detectors and wife are chirping non stop
Ever have the wind cause you down draft/chimney issues before? Any chance the chimney cap is iced up?
It has puffed in the past with wind. But this is way worse. Getting worse as the day goes on actually. Gonna wait for it to burn out and use pellet and oil.
What do you have for a cap those screen ones clog pretty easy, check chimney when you can see it safely.
Just finished snowblowing the driveway. Winds still gusty. Any snow in the air I think is just from being blown around and not newly falling. We got at least a foot. Tough to say with all the blowing. I did just enough to be able to get out, if we needed to, or if someone had to get here in an emergency. Much more clearing to come tomorrow when the temps drop to single digits and lower. I absolutely need to snowblow out to get access to my wood stacks. About 100ft through the yard. I would like to think it's good for US! Dinner was smokin', and the snow has been moved. The wind died down a little to a dull roar, so against my better judgement I took care of it this evening. Didn't really want to get all snowy before going off to take care of other snow blowing chores tomorrow. I'll check out the grandparents' while I'm out, but I bet grandpa (at 90) already has the snow moved. Feeling pretty glad to have taken Friday and Saturday off instead of the weekend this week! I like doing this sort of stuff on an off day instead of after work.
I get it when it comes Easterly and it rolls off my roof, but very little. You need to either go another length of pipe higher or get a good burning fire to create the heat draft flowing upward. But as some have said, you may need to also clean your chimney or the cap.
Ok for the most part, now that I am retired I don't have to work in it at least, chewing through the Oak keeping the house warm but that's why I cut it. I will take this cold compared to what they are going through out east, we might have a storm coming in next week.
Yeah, yeah...rub it in.... I hear ya there, I'm loving this oak. That's pretty much all I have for this entire winter Yes I saw that, I'm hoping it hits us this way! The one today was east of us, but we're getting the brutal cold and wind on the backside of the storm.
