Stay safe and warm everyone. I'm bummed that we won't see any real snow from the storm, just wind and brutal cold.

Needless to say, I'm ready for that. Lots of stove chow lined up for both burners.

Stand by, it's just the beginning. It's not supposed to let up here till about 3pm. I got 12+" in places and thats "NOT" the drifts. Wait till the wind gusts kick it in, but I know you know that up there... My cousin up in Glouchester Mass, called and started laughing at me. I'm gonna kick his @$$ when I see him :p He's a Firefighter on call in this.

We are all set. We got hay enough for 6 days for the sheep, and that is in place before their faces. Plenty of dog/cat/rabitt/fish food in the house. We have food enough canned up to survive for 6-12 months (no joke) and enough lamb meat to last for years for the family.

I got a small generator that has plenty of gas for a few days, but I got enough parts for my 20 KW generator to probably produce power in a pinch. I got 1500 gallons of diesel fuel for that so power wise we should be all set.

I would rather have a blizzard where it is blowing 20 and 20 below then an earthquake, tornado, forest fire, sinkhole or drought.

It seem's we (us, the folks here that burn wood) all in a weird sort of way thrive on our preparedness or need thereof, in the event of natural weather events that others call "disasters". Rural or suburban.
Yesterday while doing some "preparing" for the well advertised upcoming weather event, I chuckled thinking of the stupid tv news advice that I heard.... "Make sure your phone is charged"  why? so you can call someone to come help you out of what you should have been doing in preparation? I know that's painting with a broad brush, like the elderly and some others but really, charge your phone is what they come up with?
Just a "reflection" on the differences of people I'm having as I comfortably sit here watching a wonderful winter scene outside, fully prepared of course!:D

I took the wife to work this morning. She's just down the road from Tractor Supply so I stopped to get some hydraulic fluid for my tractor. Not a necessity but I figured I was right there so I'll grab some before I really need it. The doors opened and probably 30 people ran in. It's only a snow storm not the zombie apocalypse. Needless to say I left empty handed, hydraulic fluid was sold out.

    Seriously? Well.....

"sinkhole" - the ground opens up due to groundwater eroding underneath the surface.

"sTinkhole" - now that would be an outhouse.
