I decided to load up the Liberty with Red & White Oak and the outside temps are actually warming up, we're at 2. It started to snow (nothing heavy) so I'm sure the temp rise is caused by that.
Went to start the truck this morning at 5 a.m to a balmy -18° F. I dont think we it the +'s all day. Oh well, I have seen colder but.....
We hit 20 tonight with NOAA calling for a low of 8, we'll take it. White & Red Oak with some Beech going in for the overnight load.
Quite the cold snap we’ve had, nothing like the northeast but for SW Missouri I had -4 and -3 F on the drive to work yesterday and today (ave yearly minimum -5 to -10 average) High were only like 12 to 14. It’s been 2 weeks since we saw daytime highs above 32 degrees. Progress hybrid was full throttle 24/7 trying to heat 3200 sqft had to get up at least every 3-4 hours to reload just to keep Mrs happy. I’ve used more wood in 2 weeks than all the rest of the winter. Plenty more where it came from just not quite as seasoned as I want MM mid 20’s. Next year I’ll be setting really good!
We had 14 this morning so we have some Oaks going in the Liberty but the weather will change tomorrow night. ...WIND CHILL WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills possible. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin. Wind chills could range from 25 below zero to 45 below zero. * WHERE...Portions of northern New York. * WHEN...From late Thursday night through Saturday evening.
20 F here today and it feels almost balmy in comparison to what we've had the past few weeks. . Was out with just a sweater on. You know that warmer temperature almost always means more snow coming.
bout time, take your cold air back where it belongs and don't send anymore down here. you keep it up there. so there, all straightened out
Well I've got a story!! The wife works for a very large collection agency, worldwide in fact. Her job is in a very small division in a local office. her division collects what the Mass. DOR somehow has to farm out to collect. ( not enough efficient help at DOR, I guess). We have all read here the the forecast is not good here, so bad the Govna has shut down state gov't in Boston!!! Well EOSCCA(shish) has let their employees know they are free to leave work tomorrow at 2PM. Great right< WELL THE WORST PART OF TOMORROWS STORM IS FROM9am-3pm WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS??????????????????????? After a business career where my employees were our greatest asset, I find it hard to believe how some companies treat their family???? She is staying home tomorrow like her Mass state employees , unlike them she will not be paid!!!!!!!!!!
Learned around here to never never trust a forecast and plan for no school, no work, etc. Been stung way too many times with weather conditions that are not a problem regarding any safety. (Storm dissipates, missed us, whatever.) Maybe it'll turn out alright and she could've worked.
Yes, I agree with you about the respect issue. A little respect does go a long way. Sounds like you were a great boss! Maybe I could have re-worded my reply as I did't mean for it to be in any way confrontational. Just fed up with the gloom and doom of the weather journalists. Every week there is another storm of the century, you know?
