Got out in the garden a couple of days ago and managed to cut up a big pile of sticks from some blackthorn and hawthorn we thinned out from our back garden. Built a small top covered pallet store for it too. I even had help for the day from the boys (pictured taking a break on the trampoline), my wife and the dog (Merryn). Felt good to be in the fresh air all day, it was really mild (about 14c) so a very comfortable working temperature. Have a great day. Jim
Ooh, lucky to be stashing some hawthorn! Last summer I got some that was dry, and I'm really savoring it! Even the twigs pack some heat.
Yep, even though our garden is small by U.S standards it's good to know we'll hear the house for a month or so from these... Hawthorn is a really dense good firewood, very underrated in my opinion.
My sons (3 1/2 and 5 1/2) saw their first snow just after Christmas when there was about 6cm on the hill tops nearby
