I'm looking to buy 150' of rigging rope. I don't plan any real heavy or technical work so I'm thinking 1/2" with about 7000 lb tensile strength. What do you think and what brand would you recommend?
    :salute:

Wasn't sure whete to post this.

Nylon seems to last a long time
Not sure if 7000 lb rated though

What are you doing with it? Are you climbing and rigging pieces down? negative blocking? or are you just using it as a pull line?

I've used newengland ropes km-III for the canopy tour I ran in my past life. Kernmantle construction. Really nice hand, took knots well, held up to quite a lot of abuse. 7/16" is over 7000lbs. 1/2" is over 9000lbs.

I gave away thousands of feet of it barely worn or not worn at all from timing out (5yrs.) for life worthy use.

    Mostly as a pull line.

1/2" Samson Pro-Master 3-strand rope works great with a Maasdam rope puller.

Spend money on good rope, trust me on this one.....

I have a lot of Yale hanks, and some Samson as well. Some 11mm, some 13mm, and some 15mm. Each for its own task.

NE kernmantle rope is great stuff, nice and supple. also have a lot of experience using PMI Pit rope both in 11mm for SRT in vertical caving. The new England is easier to rig but the sheath on the PMI is tough stuff.
