Sad Christmas news with a good ending. A new boy showed up before Christmas. Max has a habit of bringing friends home. We had seen him before but he left and showed up again a week later.
He is an older hound all grey muzzled and skinny. He has a very bad open wound in his bottom jaw between cheek and teeth. He was really sweet and jumped right into the car for me, so i took him to my vet.
After thorough examination we decided on x-rays. His jaw bone is already split badly, it's bone cancer. We gave him one of those long term antibiotic shots to keep infection out of the wound. He'll have about 3 or 4 more months to live at best. After i got him back home he decided he had to go. I didn't want him to but he insisted. He came back today all waggy tailed when he saw me and came running. When i petted him i realized how soft his fur felt, i bent down to smell and he is all perfumy:Dthe boy has had a bath:thumbs:. That means the boy also has a home some where. No wonder he doesn't want to stay. We were so worried about him after he left and it got so cold here.
We lost our Star Rider to bone cancer 2 years ago it was horrible.

Wish you lived closer, I have a set of custom made full window steel screens for the rear cab windows of a RAM p/u. I had them made and used them when BEAR was alive. Total security for the dog and the public while being able to leave the windows completely open and the vehicle locked. Would have liked to have given them to someone who could make use of them.

Good news update on Cocoa kitten:) We nursed/limped him along for a month after his adverse reaction to vaccinations, he's made a 180* turn around! I worried he would not come back around after being sick for 4 weeks, as well as hate or fear me from all the forced feeding.

    Narration for the pictures:

Not sure if it was sibling comradery or rivalry, but he started eating dry dog food when I feed them, walks right up under their muzzles & eats from their bowls, Blondie does not care and takes turns, but Blackie does NOT appreciate, he turns his head away, lifts his lip and will not eat if the kitten is in in his bowl, so I gave Cocoa his own bowl. (yes I know dog food messes with male feline prostates, but at this point we were grateful for whatever he would take down on his own). I was wrapping Christmas gifts, forgive the scissor trimmings lol
    21843.jpeg

We had a Christmas Eve miracle, he went BANANAS over the snow crab! Forgive the Christmas Eve aftermath on the counter hee hee
    21847.jpeg 21846.jpeg

He is now willfully eating on his own and taking some dry cat food too, he has a ways to go, but he gained back ALOT of weight in the last week, he actually has a girth now!!!

That is good news. We lost an older stray cat to a Rabies vaccination. At least I am convinced that is what did her in. She had a slow progressive decline after the shot. Took about 3 weeks. She died in my chair at around 5 AM, Our Molly was so upset. She barked and barked, woke us all up. She and Miss Kitty were great friends. Poor Molly kept bumping her with her nose trying to get Miss Kitty to move, poor thing had moved on.

I've thought about making something for the back seat of my 4runner. Timber likes to put her feet on the center console, and it's a small surface.

I've had two cats that enjoyed some brands of dog food. They liked cat food just fine but decided they had to have a second course of dog food.

Hey, feed him Chinese food if that is what it takes to get him to eat - it's been a long road!

Good to see you back on the forum wildwest

Happy New Year Wild West. So glad to see the little one doing better. Kittens can be so tough.
We lost our Hodge to the cancer in his nose. He's been gone 3 weeks now.
Lucy feels great but her bowel problem hasn't improved.

    A. It is cold outside.
    B. The stove is a little hot (that is why they backed away from their blanket.)
