Hi all, new guy here in Wayne County, Pa. 5° with a nice breeze right now. Hearthstone loaded up and keeping the house warm. There's 4 1/2 cords ready in the woodshed when I get low inside. I'll be standing in front of that stove in a few after the last dog walk of the night!
Welcome, Scout24 Glad ya found FHC and can’t wait to read more about how ya found this crazy great group of “Hawdahs” You also touched on something(s) that may lead to a backstory (new thread), which of course will require pics
Ready.... Oh yea bring it on.... Especially since its hitting on a long weekend.... Where I can enjoy it...
Being up here you have to love winter, but many whine and hate it. Why be miserable for 1/3 of your life? I really like the snow, especially blizzards, aka, nor'easters. I like the challenge of living and playing in really cold temps. Having my wood allows me to laugh at the cold. But, like all New Englanders, come late March, I'm ready for spring.
We had freeze up the 18th of October this year. We did have some weird warm ( above 32 ) weather for a few days interspersed after that. March is the later part of winter and sometimes April is still winter. But the days are nice and long . ;-). I don't mind the cold. I do get tired of short days tho.
March is still very much winter here, we sometimes get our heaviest snow storms then. Early April is still winter, some years with significant snow then, But it goes quick. We can't plant until the very end of May/early June.
We're right next door to Maine, and the saying there is "10 months of winter and two months of damm poor sledding".
My dad used to live on the top of a mountain in Jackson NH. The winters got to be too much to bear on his body. He gave up and moved to FL this past spring, but he's ready to move back already. Maybe just southern NH where it doesn't normally get as stupid cold.
Welcome aboard Scout24. You may need more wood before this winters over if it stay's like this! Anyway, sit back and enjoy.
