Today we had rain, freezing rain and sleet that just changed to snow. I plowed yesterday so everything is good but depending on how much we get, I might scrape down the driveway.
It's been freezing drizzle (fadrizzle) all day. The ice is adding up. Just put down some paw safe stuff on the deck and steps so the pups (and i) can go out safely. Power co sent out messages that they are ready for downed chit. Be safe
I got home a half hour ago. As I was walking in the house a pine next door lost the top third of it, then within seconds two trees on the opposite side came crashing down. It could be a long night
Ya a big pine limb can down and the butt end hit my metal roof, The small part is on the ground and the big part is on the edge of the roof it bent the edge of the metal but to risky to do anything today as more may come down and I would be right under them and get squished, will evaluate more tomorrow...It sure scared the crap out of me...
Turned back to snow over lake Champlain about 1.5 hours ago.. I hope it turns back to snow for you quickly..
Definitely 1/4" of ice here. Power flickered 4x in the last hour. We are set if it goes out. This storm is bad timing. Forecast says sunny tomorrow and above freezing, so we should loose all the ice. Precipitation looks about done and overnight clearing.
Making the best of it this evening. Lots of scanner action tonight. Accidents, transformer pole fire, power outages, downed limbs...
We sure will. I'm glad we had the large Norway maple next to the house taken down a few years back. It had several large leaders off the trunk that would have been a problem tonight.
I'm shocked that I still have power. While reading bedtime story to my daughter there were a few slight surge type flickers, but that's it so far. Hopefully we are last the worst of it.
Wow I hope you all stay safe man, snow is snow but, freezing rain is no joke. Freezing rain is the one thing in the winter that really scares me
Next severe weather events are next week, seeing -25° multiple nights with highs only in the negative single digits.
Maybe 1/8-1/4" could have been a lot worse. Suposed to hut the high 30s today, hopefully it will help shed the ice
