If we're lucky. More likely ice chipping.

When it was finally time for us to leave, the doctor was nowhere to be found to sign us out. My wife almost lost it on them when they tried to tell us we couldn't leave. We were on our way out of the room when they finally got his "blessing"

Any idea how much freezing rain? Might be best to leave the snow in place until after the ice event.

Ice melt is your friend Midwinter . No need to chip it away. Go get a nice blended variety that includes sodium, and calcium chlorides. Magnesium chloride works also but I prefer the calcium. It works in colder weather. If by chance your drive is concrete and less than a year old, do NOT use anything I listed or it will damage your concrete. A 50lb bag is about $10 and sooooooo worth it. Sprinkle it on, wait an hour or two, and then shovel it off just like wet snow.

They attach a gps tracker to the baby’s umbilical(sp?) cord now so the baby can’t leave the ward without lots of commotion. I was very suprised when they said that we could leave yesterday.

Then that may be a very good thing for you....We both know just how well everyone drives down there :picard:and you know that you'd be called out to work in a heartbeat! No snow is not a bad thing.

Good morning, coffee is on and our weather is gonna' turn crumby. (nothing like you folks up northeast, thankfully)
My furnace blower won't shut off, hopefully the Bryant guys show up today. Have had to crank the OWB temps way down and even shut it down intermittently.
With the temps falling, it's only a minor pain,,some folks have it a lot worse than we do,,no heat at all, can't afford L.P.,,etc.

Congrats to those just home with a new baby!! Warner!!

    You folks be safe.

Wifey just gave me a list to get:
Fill the truck up with gas
    Gas for blower/generator
    Diesel for tractor
    Milk
    Eggs
Lastly she said to make sure to get some beer for yourself. God I love my wife.

We have a chance of rain/snow mix turning to snow Sat/Sunday.
The snow will probably be just enough to make the roads crumby and probably won't discourage the idiots from driving like morons.
I'm on call tonite 6:30p until I get to clock in Sat morning @ 7a and get to work thru Sun., Mon. as well.

My Holiday schedule works out best for the wimmins at work who stihl have small children at home and my wife says I am glad to do it!!

they get paid to say OMG, it' scary, if ice is deeper than an inch ice melt won't touch it, it blows off wits wind. 3 years ago we got rain at 22 degrees.. 6 inches of ice:jaw: flag on porch was 3.60 inches thick ice covered. Water softener salt works better, big crystals melt down threw and turn ice into swiss cheese. Just so hoarders know in case it becomes fun

As a guy who applies Ice melt professionally, I'll disagree here. I successfully removed 6 inches of ice a few years ago. That storm shut Indianapolis down for 5 days. Including .gov Services. I had some of the only clean parking lots in The city. It was 0 outside. Windchills were -40. Nastiest storm I have seen here.

The calcium chloride melts right down thru anything, even at -25f, and then you still have to plow or shovel It off. It breaks the bond from the surface. It doesn't melt it away. Salt , even big chunks, quits working at about 15 degrees above zero. That's why its normally mixed with other "hotter" chemicals.

Just more info for y'all who may need it. Not stirring the pot here :)

Last day of work for me. Still fighting the cold and now a tickle in the throat that won't go away. Temps outside are flirting with the freezing mark and no snow yet. We are about to head out for a walk. At least it is not raining - yet.
