These two don’t help putting the tree up, but they are good at knocking ornaments off.

I finally saw the elusive giant black wildcat here in full view with light. He used the cat door opening to come in for some food, looked at me through the window on his way out (motion detector light in porch). Of all things, he's a Maine Coon X savemoney .

Anyway, the second wildcat that my neighbor was feeding (neighbor since moved) has been here lately, we programmed her microchip in the door this morning so it will be permanently installed in the next few days so "Momma" wildcat and Lila wildcat can eat in peace and get out of the wind and cat fights with the other ferels here. I heard a fight that literally went on for over an hour, 3-4 am. So much growling and spitting and physical fights every few minutes, no thank you.

I'll trap and get the other 3 fixed if the opportunity arises.

I have a feeling he is related to the cat at lil one's school, (13 miles on road, but 4 miles or less miles as the eagle flies), they look exactly alike with the difference of the one here has long hair like Larry's pictures, the one over there is a shorter hair, but same color/markings/LARGE bones & body.

So It Shall Be : Wyoming Coon

    Shadow 11 weeks old 003.JPG

Although it won't win any photo of the year awards, I love this one.

Shadow at 11 weeks (husky/shep/heinz mix)hugging from behind, Duchess the very wooly springer, and Sam the cat, all in the same frame. This is about 7 years back. Even then Duch was lazy, and would sit and throw her head side to side to play with the pup on her back. If he tried to play from the front, she would lay down, and refuse to entertain him unless he laid down as well.

Sam was my fuzzy fella that went to kitty heaven last year, but he sure had a nice healthy weight to him back then. I believe part coon cat.

Luv the big cats. We have a few years, but a couple of our (4) felines are getting up there in age. When the time comes, we are going with Coons. Wyoming, Maine, I don't care. I want to see them chasing foxes, not the other way around. Gentle giants.

Ruger isn't happy unless he's laying on your feet.

Ugh. It is 2:30 AM and I am up and awake. Wife fed left over chicken casserole to the dogs. The old one starts barking at 2 AM and then gets barfing. You know who gets to clean that up. Certainly not the wife. Old dog seems to be better now. He is so much better off sticking to his dog food. Just a taste of the people food is OK but more than that is paper towel time. Hard for the wife to understand what isn't good about it. That dog doesn't do well with food that may be fatty.

Gave both cats, Rita and Fuzzy baths last night. I am normally a strict non-bathing of cats household since they usually do very well by themselves. But over the last couple of weeks they have gotten horrible fleas despite new flea collars which usually work very well. So, I decided to bath them to get rid of "flea dirt" and soothe their skin (Rita especially suffers from flea bite dermatitis).

I was unsure how things would go, but figured if I started them in a warm bath of water and worked my way up to the shampoo and rinse, at least if either went crazy, I'd just deal with a mad wet cat, and not a mad, wet, soapy cat.

Since Rita has allergies and seems to have sensitive skin, I made my own shampoo out of glycerin, apple cider vinegar, a bit of dawn dish soap and some rosemary essential oil. Knowing that Rita will just flatten like a bear rug if I press down on her shouldr blades, that is what I did in a very shallow bath. At the end I didn't even really have to hold onto her as I was rinsing her. Then she really enjoyed getting wrapped in a thick towel and a sat with her in front of the pellet stove with warm air helping to dry her out.

Then it was formerly feral Fuzzy's turn. Although he had more angst and tried to squirm away every chance he could, he was still fairly easy too. Although he is not one for being picked up and held, he too enjoyed being swathed in a thick towel and sitting in front of the stove for a bit while I rubbed him down. After a while he did get antsy, so I let him go.

I was surprised that neither cat hissed, growled, tried to bite or scratch me . Neither was nervous when I later approached them with a topical flea treatment (I did take off their flea collars before the bath and did not put them back on as I didn't want an adverse interaction).

And, no pics as I only have so many hands - but it did happen :)
