Its pretty good in SE BC but there are drop zones, dark zones, even on the highways. We are a steep mountain area with deep valleys so there are many areas with no cell range once you step out of the towns and off the highways. Im glad when I cant be reached in the bush and other times its nice to have the safety, also things are good when I can check in on fhc out in the bush lol!
Being a loner I spend lots of time by myself in the bush in areas I maybe shouldnt be alone in. Ive thought for years a sat phone should be a basic requirement.
Safety is always important. When we grew up there was no such things as cell phones. And we had manual oilers on our saws.
Being by myself or with buddies. I am good either way. But I do love my piece and quite. As you know the bush is not always a place we need to be alone. They may only find scattered bones.
No suntan lotion, no seat belts, no bike helmets, no bug spray, hell, no water to drink. It wasn't sold back then. Just be home when the street lights came on, or face mama.
I grew up in the country no lights here. Was be home for supper or go hungry. It was the grand jury walking in late. Live and learn.
my son and a friend of his took off in the woods the other day and "discovered" an old cabin in the woods near the house. They had fun playing with their red rider bb guns. They actually forgot about video games and how cold they were for awhile.
Outside where kids have real friends and learn all kinds of things. We don’t have video games at home. They have friends, play sports, have fun and be kids. It’s funny how many parents forgot they grew up outside, had friends. And won’t let their kids do the same. I am sure people would crenge at what my kids do. They will grow up with respect, honor and integrity. Have motivation, dedication, follow through and self reliance.
You lucky son of a chainsaw, that looks like some satisfying work there - i bet you aint even feeling the -2°F at all right now. Have a nice day out with your kid - here its about 5 °C/41°F . As soon as i got home, ill gonnae fill the stove with Spruce, Birch and maybe some Maple.
Always satisfying bringing some warmth home. The value of a warm house and the satisfaction of sharing a hards day work with my son. Priceless.
It has warmed up over ten degrees in the last few hours. Currently 32-ish and freezing rain. Schools delayed two hours all around here. That should give the roads enough time to warm up. Looks like it should be another six degrees warmer by then. Ash and Pine in boiler.
Computer shows the temps here to be just above freezing! Real feel is at 19, but man oh man! the foot of snow that was forecasted for tomorrow has been downgraded to 6-10 over a 4-day period. pffftt! With the mild temps yesterday and again this overnight, the snow pak sure has settled. Cold snap starts on Sat. Maple and yellow birch went into the OWB last evening.
Right now, 32F here and going to the mid- 40's today. Going to load the trailer with wood tonight and get ready 'cause your weather turns into my weather after a while; the forecast is again calling for sub- 20F temps next Tues, Wed. and that is probably teh cold snap you have right now. Thanks for sending that east, by the way. Brian
