The loops of chain I just ordered, I got 2@20" and 2@25" loops of Oregon cheaper than 2 loops at my local. Even if I would have gotten Stihl it would have still be cheaper, crazy. Stihl was only $2.10 more than Oregon. Several has suggested to practice on the Oregon here we go. Now I just need Mike to check his email so I can buy a vise from him. Dallas and his square grinder has me thinking, about that slippery slope. My local charges $20 a loop to square grind that 50 sharpening's for the same price of a grinder. Now if I can get my local to sell me his Ziggy, hmmmm.
I was looking closely at the pics you posted. At the end of the day 50 sharpening's @ $20, that makes the $1,000 grinder reasonable, in a long term objective.
72 CL full chisel, full comp. 72 Stihl semi chisel, round grind is $36 for the first loop and $18 for a second, cut can't buy a third @ $18.
He didn't afford the ziggy and silvey by sharpening for a cheap rate. Not on his good looks either. Maybe his wife's though...
I have to do 3 hours continuing education online every year for my builders license. They're probably gonna push more for spray foam insulation again this year.
