    After having 2 surgeries in the last 8 years, I wish I'd taken a little more time to recuperate. After the hernia, I did, but still was out helping buck up a tree we had taken down.
    Nothing like what you've been through, but the idea is the same.
    Too soon. :picard::yes:

    Temps. are 20's by day, teens by night but the wind has finally stopped and that is making a huge difference in how much heat is required from the stove. While in the low 20's with the wind steady at 30 MPH plus and gusting, I was on a six- hour loading cycle with the I.S., otherwise the house just fell off in temp. until the central heat kicked in. Now I can go 10, 12 hours again on a full load of oak as the wind has stopped.

    BDF yes I agree it makes a huge difference. Im not a fan of wind unless its a hot summer day! We are -10c/14f. Ive just loaded the stove with doug fir. One piece was a tight grained chunk off an old tree. I had a hard time fitting it through the door! I usually dont use such big pieces but it was in my stacks so what the heck!

    I tried to plow this morning. Loader wouldn't start. Tested battery ,,, all good ,,, cleaned up all the terminals,,, still nothing. Check some fuses,,, got more dash lights but no starty !! pizzonit ,,, walked to dads to put plow on his truck. He's had it 4 years and never used it . Had to look for EVERYTHING ,,,, pins, mounts , remote control , hairpins and then shovel 2' of snow to get to it . Bunch of pins on the quick connect cord were bent and wouldn't line up. Nothing like fixing plan B after failing to fix Plan A !!!
    Made a few swipes just so we can get in and out . Gotta get some errands run before everything closes .Will clean up later. GRRRRRR!!!

    Been busy hope everyone is doing well. It’s snowing about 2 inches so far. We have been unseasonably warm by 50* or so. 371DC8EB-4181-415A-A7A8-C5D0BD22C3C5.jpeg 96CDB9D2-E1F8-4ECA-9C9B-EE59B8FDD0B0.png

    Mid 20's again tonight with teen wind chills... Its about as bad as winter gets around here..

    Came home to enough coals to get her fired back up with a maple ugly... Not just any ugly, it really was an ugly, ugly lol.. Also throw in a few other weird wavy splits of holly and maple.

    Hearth is loaded with both beech and maple but it will be mainly beech again tonight.

    A bit warmer weather on the near horizon, mid 50's this coming monday they are showing.

    Expecting 0°F to -10°F overnight. Loaded the oakleaf up, heading to a Christmas party, plan on loading it up again late tonight. :drunk:

    Going through some firewood now! It has been below 10 for a couple days now and we have had some wind as well. Ash and Pine in boiler.

    15 out. I came home around 4pm to 64 inside with a barely warm stove. What better to do then to pack a bunch of random species in and turn it loose. Currently 71 in cruising at 475 stove top

    Currently 21F on its way down to 13F. Just cleaned the catalyst, and now the stove is just burning down some coals before it gets stuffed full of locust and red maple.

    New fella, he’s got a different situation here but I’m leaning towards getting wood to him.
