Hey guys. Been reading lots of your posts and love the site ! First post here. Old picaroon bit it so I ordered a 36 Logrite hookaroon. I cannot get it to “bite” at all hardly! Maybe 1 out of 10 splits or rounds it will take but seems I have to bend down and be at a very awkward angle to get it to. Seems pointless to bend down to use a tool designed to somewhat prefer that ?! Did I get a cull or an I missing something? It is all oak and hickory and wonder if these are not really made for that hard of wood species ? I know they make top notch tools so I am really trying to take the blame here. Thanks guys.
I do not with me. I’ll get one when I get home later and do my best to figure out how to post it, which means ask one of my kids to show me!
Did you get the left hand or right hand model? Just kidding dadd, welcome to the club! I have only had wood handle hookaroon/pickaroon's. I've never heard a bad word about the Logrite, just can't speak to that model my self. Just wanted to say welcome to the FHC!
Welcome-mine works like a charm..and I only deal with hardwoods, oak, hickory, locust, etc...guess you could have gotten a cull but I'll bet the company will make it "Rite"---Nice to have you here...we like pics, dogs, beer and spending your money on accoutrements to help feed your addiction,,,er, I meant hoard....Nice to meet ya
Thanks for the welcome ! Here are some pictures of this weeks wood haul and my dog , the beer doesn’t last long enough for a photo op !
I have the Peavey Pickeroon. I stick it in to the end of the log. Doesn't stick as well in the bark. I was lifting 16" oak rounds on to the splitter yesterday and today. The tree just fell this week, so it is very wet still.
Yeah I stick it in the end also , that said my old one it didn’t matter , back , end , round , split, hard or soft.
Nope! There's 3800 other hoarders here to help you with your addiction. The answer around here is always yes. Yes you need another saw... yes you need more wood...
Mykidsdadd Welcome to the site. Glad you found us. I usually try to stick my pickeroon in the ends of pieces. I will stick it in the bark if I have to pull a piece that rolled into some other briar patch.
Welcome mykidsdadd, this is a great site to be on lots of info and some great pics of every ones hoarding addction I have a 30" logrite pickaroon and love it
