I have heard that leaving a bowl of Lime green Kool-Aid out at night might help. When you head for bed, put out the kool-aid. Just remember to keep it out of reach in the morning. Don't want it going to waste.
Prestone makes good kool-aid I'm told. Just a thought......

Good idea! I'd be hesitant to try that though. I'll never hear the end of it if I forgot to move it in the morning.

I wonder what would be a better deterrent. Range ammo, or my defensive rounds? Since it's always loaded with Winchester PDX1's I guess I'll have to just find out.

Use a small bowl at first, see if the 'yotes like Kool-aid. You should know after a night or two. Let your other family members know that bowl is not for pets, period.
Ammo selection shouldn't matter much, they're not a tough animal. Noise constraints might be an issue if it bothers the neighbors. If so, the Aguila SSS in .22lr is a solid choice. From a rifle, the noise is there but not obnoxious. A straight on chest shot out to 40', it will anchor them. Head shot is even better.
..or so I heard from that guy who's brother knows the guy who's cousin might have tried all of that. or so I'm told. ;)

You don't need to drop them. Just give them a terminal wound. If you drop them you have a carcass to deal with

    True.
But, Hefty bags are cheap. I know of a taxidermy studio that trains students in the "art", they like trunk animals- if fresh. This may be an option/ incentive.

It's a quick and satisfying solution, but ask yourself, if one of your neighbors was discharging his weapon when your three year old was outside, what would your reaction be? "Well, officer, I was shooting at a coyote..."

Or a neighbors pet getting into it. Can Fish and Game give any advice? It is a real problem. Local coyotes are very brave and have little fear of humans. Quite a few pets are lost to them around here.

Put your local government to work! Call Pelham Animal Control, or if there is none, the police. They should be interested to know about a pack of bold coyotes in a neighborhood.

I bought a jar of the instant coffee also. Visited one of the Kmart closing stores and there it was, just pennies on a dollar.....99 cautioned me, but a deal is a deal, right?

I have yet to open that jar.....

I hear ya. I'm pretty frugal myself. The real coffee from the same store isn't bad for 4.xx. I'm drinking it right now.

It would only be a defensive situation. I'm not going to just shoot if I see one near me.

Fish and game / animal control is a good idea though. I'll look into that

She doesn't want me shooting them if one comes after the dog, do I really need to see what she thinks about poisoning them with antifreeze?

I live in the woods, and most of my immediate neighbors are seasonal. Noise wouldn't be a problem.

Very cool start to the day @ mid/upper teens. Coffee and breakfast is finished.
Gonna go buy a new battery for the ol' Cherokee, seemed a little slow to turn over @ lower 20's the other morning. Wrong time of the year to think about "what if's". I'll load test the 4 y/o battery in it now and keep it if it's any good, the pro-rating refund wouldn't outweigh the convenience of a bench battery.
Gotta' new starter on the shelf as well,,at 215k on the clock, it's cheap insurance. (I say that 'cause I haven't gotten around to installing it.)
Scored a real nice load of Ash yesterday, left about 1/3 of it on the truck last nite,,s/s most of it with a few cold frosties sent me to bed early.
    Be safe.
