Well I was finally feeling well enough to get the rest of that red oak split from 2 years ago! It felt great to work in the wood pile again, I miss it. The splitter gave me some crap though half way through! Always seems like I have to fix my equipment every time I go to use it, never fails! I'm trying to find a compression spring for the ram valve, it fell to pieces inside the assembly and messed everything up. The ram wouldn't return automatically so I adjusted it and then felt zero tension, I knew something was wrong. I took it apart and saw the spring all busted up inside. I found a spring laying around that I used to get the job done but I had to hold the handle in both directions. Not enough tension with the spring that I had, I've also searched everywhere locally and I can't find the spring. I searched online as well and only found one place that carried it and I had to spend $40.00 minimum. I contacted DR power and of coarse I have to buy the entire valve assembly for $190.00 plus shipping. I'm going to try one more store tomorrow and see what they have, otherwise it's looking like I'm buying the entire valve. I was planning on selling it when I was done with the pile too! But I'd rather sell a quality splitter than a headache. Anyway, I had a great day splitting and being outside with the wood stealing dogs again!

Looks like you got a good pile of splits done in spite of having mechanical issues. Nothing worse than issues with equiptment when you're ready to roll.

I would check Grainger or Fastenal also. You should train the dogs to :stack:or at least bring it to the :stacker:. Good luck with the spring.

I got it all fixed today and cleaned it all up, it's disheartening to sell it but I have no choice. Probably putting it up on Craigslist tonight. I think I'm going to keep the chainsaw though, I have an attachment with that! :D Thank you for all the replies and links my friends, I really appreciate it!

I'm sure one of us could show up occasionally with a splitter to plow through a pile of rounds when you need it. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it from your firewood brothers and sisters here on FHC..

Just curious. What wood stove are you burning. You have the P61A in your signature but no wood stove that I can see... You you burning wood or pellets this winter? Disregard. See the Fireview now. Time to get the eyes checked!!! o_O

Dylskee - where are you? I'm in Mendon. I might be able to join a splitting party, if it comes to that.

Hi Mike, I'm in Auburn. Luckily I got everything split while I was feeling decent. Honestly I wish I had more to split, I find it relaxing. Thank you for the offer, I appreciate it very much!
