Very nice. Beautiful assistant too. Maple is dry in a year. Hope you are able to burn some this winter even if you have to buy a little. Some folks with good stashes are willing to trade seasoned for green also. Dont forget about at least checking on the Unicorn that is Craigslist, you could get lucky. Keep up the good work and hoard on sir.:salute:

That looks like hard maple, soft maple has a smoother bark, almost silver colored.

If the tree is in a swampy area, I'd have to guess that its red maple, a soft maple species. Sugar maple is more of an upland species. The bark is not always a good indicator of hard or soft as it can vary greatly depending on diameter growth rate (faster growing, smoother bark). JMHO..

Hey HDRock, that look like cottonwood to ya? Flecky-like bark you had a pretty bang on picture for that months back in the spring.

It won't let me get to that option. It uploads to 100% then I get a black page pop up that says error.

The one pic I did get to work let me choose thumbnal or full just fine.

Howdy neighbor, it's about time we got a MaineMtnMan here. Very glad to meet ya. I think you will like it here. So much info all in one place. Just so the rest of you out there know in the lower 48, if you always wanted to go to Alaska, Maine is the closet thing to it around here. Ya'll come by and visit sometime. You won't be disapointed.

Don't we all! But Alaska is kinda far, I only live 4 towns away from Maine, I can be there in 30 minutes. No plane tickets required.

Agreed - My brother lives in Ellsworth. Love driving up that ways. Took a ride up to Millinocket one time. Whole lot of nothing on that road. Loved it!!

Hope to catch sight of a moose someday.
