Stars and rain this morning. Overall a nice walk. campinspecter is going on a sea cruise to help my brother finish the new entry way at Mom's . The supervisors are going too and right now, because they got their collars on, they are tearing around the house getting excited. Treats at the ferry terminal and then when they get to Mom's has them really anticipating the trip.

This is downright amazing. Just walked to the mailbox and it is 63 degrees out there! What month is this?

65 degrees. No fire so I might as well do something fire related.

For those that can't tell, this is how a soot Eater works from the bottom. This is also how you keep your wife from killing you for making a giant mess. Note shop vac inside Firebox, towel and plastic on carpet, and plastic sealed all the way around using blue tape. Blue only. When I'm done, I'll show u what happens when duct tape is used. You'd think the duct tape residue burns off.....it does not. Ever.

20 minutes later we have this. I'm embarrassed to show this but hopefully it'll make somebody sweep that thinks they don't need to. This was 1 year of burning. 7 face cords of 1 year old ash wood. Temps kept above 400 always. Lots and lots of restarts. Stove is too small to burn overnight.

The shop vac couldnt keep up. Theres much more in the shop bac bag. By the way, the bag is the high performance drywall dust bag. If you dont have this specific bag, do not use the shop vac at all. Your wife will murder you.

Anyway, here's proof. *hangs head in shame*

Remember me talking about duct tape? Yea....dont use it. This is from years ago when I was out of blue tape.

I was going to mention something about the filter requirements of the shop vac bag also.

Do not cheap out on the filter for this application. The whole house would be involved...and probably a lengthy murder trial turned into justifiable homicide defense!

I purchased an extra shop vac hose and leave the vac on the porch and run the hose through the nearest window. Noise and most of the dust/soot stays out.

Well aren't you smart. damm good idea. Sometimes it's the simplest solution and I just don't see it without help lol. Hose is cheap and lasts forever. Those bags are like 9 dollars each and I trash them as soon as I do this every year.

I did this when I needed to grind a high spot off the concrete basement floor with a 6" grinder and a diamond cup wheel. I just happen to have a 100' section of pool cleaner hose laying around...popped the basement window open and put the ShopVac out in the yard and went to grinding...didn't take long at all until the filter plugged up so I just removed it since it was outside anyways...oops, end up taking the bearings out of the vac motor 'til the job was done...:emb:

Schlot, Lucy is feeling herself again since she's been off the meds. However her bowels are still not good. Today's had blood in it again.
Please tell me: when you say chicken only how do you actually feed that? I cook Lucy's. 1lb of ground turkey, 1/4lb beef heart, 1/2 chicken thigh, 1 can pumpkin, 2 yellow crook neck squash cooked in beef heart broth then cooled and 1 tsp of probiotics, 600mg calcium. I have a hard time getting beef hearts.

I buy 2 bags of chicken thighs each week. Doug our lab, gets most of it but the other three get some mixed in with normal dry food also.

Its baked in the oven in a casserole pan with water. Then just broken down in bite size pieces. I do need to look at adding supplements since we seem to finally have a good handle on it.

We've had him in several times and they've tried different meds with zero help. Without doing a lot more testing they think it's an ulcer.

Chicken is the only thing he keeps down. Almost anything else will come back up. He can take an occasional treat but we limit that too.
