    Did you smell it yet? :D.... Two totally different smells ... I love both, but I'm thinking both bark and wood appears to look a lot like cherry...

    Very possible! Good eye... It's got a sweet smell on splitting too.

    After looking at it, I think he hit it... rpdragon ....

    I'm not at all familiar with Honey Locust, with my knowledge limited to trees of the northeast, I'd say it's Cherry looking.

    Inside looks like cherry, outside doesnt. We dont have honey locust so I cant agree to that based off lack of knowledge. Def not red oak.

    Ok a cherry score is always good....now it’s time to start saving up for a splitter so I can upgrade from my homelite 5 ton splitter

    Definitely not red oak, too much sap wood and too light of color. Looks to be cherryish to me. You would know red oak by its rather strong, pungent, bitter smell. Cherry will smell very sweet, think swisher sweet or cigarello like.

    Honey locust. Split some myself a couple weeks ago. Bet it's wicked heavy.

    The honey locust in my yard has much smoother bark than the wood shown. Just saying.
