Trunk was rotted about the first ten feet at least. That' where it broke, about 8' up.

I'm sure the trunk will still be nice and wet, we'll see about the limbs. Lots.of dead barkless branches in the first 30' most trash, but a few are.worth cutting up

Thanks, it did, I didn't have to cook! I did last year, the whole 9 yards, the whole family came. A couple weeks ago, husband asked, "what did we do for Thanksgiving last year?" Gong!

I saw this on the internet today and thought you might like to go brave some more madness to get a copy.

When having leftovers with same family members, Is it okay to have half a plate of dressing with gravy, the other half with ham and turkey, and no vegetables? .........,,,

I’ll take that as a YES!

BIG about a 15' trunk that was at least 36" wide and laying flat on the ground. No thanks, not without a bigger saw, and the front yard was a hill, I could imagine it rolling right down to the road and taking out a car if I was even able to roll it to finish the cuts.

Yikes! Even if it was free, that's a lot of time and labor.

exactly. If it were in my own yard, Id look forward to it, but thats just back breaking labor. I'd have had to quarter it, then halve every quarter to be able to move them.

I'm just trying to get the wood in the yard tidied up at this point. Getting it all cut to stove length, and stacked off the ground so it doesn't freeze in place. We're living on borrowed time now.

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and survived Black Friday. I stayed at the cabin. Hubby is out for the long weekend. Got some oak put up.
How dry do you usually burn oak what is too wet? Most of mine was around 19 right after splitting a few where as high as 22 in the middle.

I am burning some 3 y/o now that is 12-15, and it is burning A#1. Haven't needed to empty the 30 in three weeks now and the glass and stove interior are really clean.

I need to move my rubbermaid shed to its new spot and then load it up with the oak and locust I'm planning to burn. Should have done that months ago. I also have a bunch of 3x4 dimensional hardwood lumber U shaped braces that I need to bust up and cut to length. Those should have been done a year ago lol.

I' gonna stack those in the boiler room, I was able to dry out 6x8 dimensional lumber that was split in half pretty quickly in there last winter.

I'm so jealous, I need to empty my ash pan every 3-5 days right now with this crap maple I'm burning. I guess I can't complain too much about free dry rounds even if they'e sub par

I'm not running that much and that hard yet, but I've only emptied mine twice since I've started and thats like a 2 gallon stainless pot that I use. But then again the NC30 has a big belly....:D

Oh don't worry, when I had my NC13 it was almost every 2 days that I was cleaning out the ashes... Just not much bottom to that baby...

Do you think I could burn the oak that is 19 in center and about 14 at the edges? Or is that still too wet?

It will be hissin' & spittin". I'd be mixing it with some other type dry if you have to burn it. I'd also wait until it was cold and drafting well so you can open up the air a bit.

Oak is a minimum of 2-3 years depending how you dry it. Any less than that and you are losing too much steam up the pipe, giving your BTU's away

That's not bad, 22% in the center and 19% elsewhere is burnable. Yeah, it'd burn better with one more year, but that's really not bad, probably ends up right after 20% over all. Plus how long ago were those numbers taken?
