i came across an add for a Husqi 350, $100. Full disclosure, it "has no compression" says the add. That was a no deal for me, but since the address wasn't too far away, I responded and then went to go look at it. When I pulled it, it wasn't " no compression". Yanked the plug and top of piston looked ok but could see some score on the cylinder. There was a compression tester there and we were able to get 60lbs I pulled the muffler and there is scoring on the piston. The price was dropped to $50, including the bar and chain. The seller told me the saw was running at full throttle when cutting a big log, there was a puff of smoke and the thing just died. I'm thinking a plug and jug and it's good to go. Deal or no deal?
I think so too. Simonian has a kit packaged just for the upgrade. $170. Do you know of another resource?
HLS has quite a few options, OEM is now super cheap. I've only upgraded 351s so no need for the riser, but don't think it's a problem to have one. Find mattyo vids on youtube, he knows more about this saw. 346XP
Do I want a project saw is where I'm at. This morning I offered to put in a c/p I pulled from my 353. If I got it running, pay me for parts like a piston ring and new circlips. And a case of beer. The 353 parts are still ok, that's why I keep them. I was giving them away. If they don't do it, I'd still consider the saw at 50 bucks. The owner doesn't want to sink any more money into it and respectfully declined the repair. I think I'll get it. Something to do this winter.
