I am a weekend warrior when it comes to wood/any tasks for that matter. Just wondering what the rest of you do.

My general rule of thumb is that I spread my time out 2-4 hours per project on a weekend in order to get something done on multple projects. Their are exceptions.
    • Start of a project
      • I set a goal at the start of a project and will work to achieve that goal no matter how long that takes. The only the things that will stop the start will be an emergency project.
    • Middle project is where the 2-4 hour rule comes in.
    • End of a project
      • When I am close to completing a project, I'll do a final push when I am say 8-12 hours away from completing it. Just like the start, this will take precedence over all other projects other than emergency.
Projects I am referring to are long term ones that are multiple weeks long. Not your two hour projects.

I usually try to visualize the work/task/project in anticipation of the event.

I think it helps on some more of the major projects I have done...the smaller ones don't need it.

At this point of life, I don't get overly concerned if the goal is not met, but yeah, I still set goals and usually reach them. there's always that wild card (Murphy) that shows up from time to time though. Unavoidable.

Projects I start around here are subject to be side tracked by the better half. What I want to get done and what she wants me to get done, end up being two different things at times. OH well.....

No plans here for weekends. Don't need to as every day is a Saturday here! Just take the jobs one at a time.

I'm guilty of starting too many jobs and getting to 90%...letting that last 10% linger way too long.

Recently I've been more diligent about trying to keep up on the splitting. I get too excited to go cut and haul home 3-4 cord and it stacks up. I have learned to pace myself, makes for less work cussing and moving wood twice.

I used to be O/C when I had something to get done and a limited time to do it. It has taken me three years of retirement to get to the Backwood Savage approach. Now I just take in in manageable bites, slow and steady as she goes. My almost 70 y/o body has just about got my 40+ brain trained....................."SLOW & STEADY". By the way, what day is it today?
