Opening day of firearm deer season here in Michigan. Good luck to all that are in the woods today. Weather is not cooperating. Pouring rain over here. At least it held off for the morning. I sat out from 6:00 till 11:00. Saw a young buck, but let him walk.

Brother and his younger son are out in separate blinds with heat, coffee, and snacks on private land (friend of ours). They're probably napping while the big bucks go ambling by.
Still 5 sleeps until our zone is open for WT deer. There's other zones open, but I like sticking close to home. Good luck to all who venture out today.
Was out this morning. Normally I'd stay out but raining so much decided to come in for a warm dinner. Will go back out soon though. Not much luck this morning. Saw several does and fawns but no bucks. Normally opening day deer are moving all day but did not see anything the last 2 1/2 hours out there.
Took a big 8 pointer tonight. Bottomed our a 200lbs scale so we will weigh him at the butcher in the morning. Shot out behind the house and thankfully dragged out with the neighbors 4wheeler. Guessing it will weight 225 dressed. 5 year old daughter was proud of her dad tonight. Lots of high fives and hugs.
Thanks everyone. Look forward to seeing pics of your successful hunts here as well. Couple more days before we process the sausage and my mouth is watering already.
