Can anyone tell me how to adjust the chain oiler on a Jonsered 2245? It does not seem to be putting out enough oil. Bottom of saw has markings indicating that it is adjustable but I cannot seem to find a screw. Book says nothing about it. Thanks in advance for your help.
A lot of times it's deep in a crevice covered with saw dust and oil. Blow the saw out good and look with a flashlight near the markings.
Figured out what was going on - apparently the bar oil is coming out around crank shaft instead of being pumped through hole in bar. Lots of oil behind clutch cover. New saw in December and not been used all that much. Bar groove is clean and oil hole is clear. I guess it will be back to the dealer to see if warranty is any good.
Decided to tear into it. Need to figure out how this stuff works anyway. Found two things that could have been causing the problem: 1 - the rubber oil pump fitting that plugs into the oil tank was not aligned properly. Was kind of seated at an angle and rubber was somewhat deformed. Put it in correctly and hope the rubber reforms properly to the hole. 2 - the worm gear on the pump shaft was full of stiff gunk. Did not look like it had really worn off much and pump did not have much play where it seats in case but gears did not appear to have been completely meshing. Not sure why they were not meshed completely as I had it apart before I saw the plugged gears. I am guessing the gunk is result of running saw in wet snowy conditions mixed with oil and sawdust. Put it all back together and it works fine. Ran for a couple of hours with no further problems. At least I now know how oil pump works!
