I introduced Duke to spaghetti tonight. Lilly received her portion also. The next 24hrs. should be fun, for the wife. (She has the next few days off, I'll hear all about it)
I have 2 quiet, sleeping dogs right now, that makes me happy. Tomorrow is not my concern, I'll be at work. Muahahahaha......... I feel like Dr. Evil. :rofl:
edit- Lilly is already farting while asleep, I'm laughing as quietly as I can!! :D

I actually think they understand they were rescued and are better dogs for it. All of my dogs in my life have been rescues, and they just seem to love you more. Chief

Dogs are a lot smarter and more intuitive than a lot of people give them credit for. That being said, they are pack animals who reply on their pack leader for inspiration...... and they know when their pack leader leads them from a bad situation. We often time try to humanize them as little people but they differentiate and respect based on their world, and provide unlimited loyalty and love when they are at ease and secure.

My Lilly passed tonight. We were both with her to the last, looks like "Bloat"? We tried to get in touch with an ER but no luck, closest one is an hour away. She went in 3 hours or so. I already e-mail my shop not to expect me tomorrow or accept my 2-weeks notice. I'm pretty calm, but I'm gonna lose it soon, she's still at rest in front of the TV where she died. I just keep petting her and talking to her.

So sorry for your loss. She knew she was loved at the end, which is any of us can ask for. RIO Lilly :tears:

Bloat is a horrible thing. I had a dog that went thru it 3 times - the 3rd time was when he passed.

So very sorry to hear that Beetle-Kill. As we have experienced in the past, the loss of our fur babies is just like losing a human we love dearly as well. Just remember the good times and take heart knowing you gave Lilly the best life you could. R.I.P. Lilly

BK, such sad news as I read your story this morning. They give us so much during their short lives and then break our hearts when they go. I am soooo sorry. Take heart in the knowledge that Lilly is in the Rainbow Garden, waiting for you. Some people think I’m silly when I say that but God told me when my “Oggie” passed that He had taken her there. I pray everyday, but that day God spoke to me like never before. I absolutely believe! I will pray for peace for you. Chief

Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts. Not an easy one today, for sure. We're having her cremated so she'll be back home this week end.
