Ha! I though Holz meant round! Thanks for that correction and info.; one less way to embarrass myself. Seriously.

I have hurt more than one poor German's ears stumbling my way through ein bisschen Deutsch, which I am afraid is a bit less than adequate unfortunately. Still, I can say Porsche, Leibniz and Neanderthal correctly (correct German pronunciation, not the Anglicized versions) so that is some improvement. Hard to work those words in most sentences though.... :D

Pretty cool. If you have the time I can see trying it out. But I find it much faster to stack in straight rows as well. I may try this sometime though to be able to see it for many months while it dries. I like the looks of them.

As to the speed part, I cheat on that because my wife likes to build them and so it takes me [no] time at all. For you folks that have to stack your own wood, rows might be faster. :)

Holz Haus (see, I am paying attention) has one other big advantage to some of us; it stacks a lot of wood in a very small area. And if there is a little extra room to spare, one can leave enough room in-between them so that each one becomes something of an 'island' and can be ignored and seasoned without any one of them being in the way of getting to any others. In the past, I have found this difficult to do with stacking in rows, and I will NOT move wood twice before I burn it. So once my wood is stacked, the next time it is touched is to be moved into the trailer, onto the porch (via my SUV) and once more to throw it in the stove.

If I could figure out how, I would fell a tree into my woodstove, set it on fire and be done with it.

No worries - i tried to explain a few posts earlier. but i just joined so i dont wanted to be a grammar nazi straight away.
Overhere english words are getting germanized - and they wouldnt make much sense to you either.
The word Hausen is common in names of citys/towns or villages like Wildeshausen Wildeshausen - Wikipedia - the word Hausen is refering to House or Settlement. But im glad that Horkn helped out here and got it out of the way.

I always appreciate being given a correct answer, whether it means something I said or thought before was wrong or not. I [do not know] a lot more than I [do know] and so will spend my entire life learning (like most people I expect).

OFFTOPIC: Being around a lot of German people who speak excellent English but of course have accents, I have noticed a few things that are really interesting, at least to me: most Germans say 'iron' exactly as it is spelled and <should> sound (I- ron rather than I- ern), and pronounce all four syllables in words such as 'typically', while we slur them together to get three syllables. I have also been told my horrible German is over- pronounced and 'brittle', so I am probably doing the same thing. Humans can make about 100 distinct sounds; most western languages use about 40 of them but they are different sets of sounds of course. And that is exactly what an accent is: using the wrong sound to form words. English speakers typically cannot master the German 'ich' because it is not native to our language so we growl out something close but wrong. Many Europeans cannot make the proper 'th' sound and so say words such as "with" several different ways, 'wif', 'wid', etc. What is even more surprising is that English is a Germanic language and a direct off-shoot and yet sound so very different!

Back to the Holz Haus building: if you do a Google search, some people have made some amazing things by stacking wood. One gentleman made a playhouse for his kids with windows and doors, entirely out of firewood splits. Others make shapes and specific objects, all very creative though also very time consuming and destined to be broken down and burned. But interesting to see.

Looks pretty simple and easy. My only concern is the drying with the wood not being stacked in the bin. However, if enough air flow is there it will work great and will be a great idea. Yes, the bolt cutter will make a quick and easy door.

Your idea is very similar to the fellas that have used the old round corn cribs for stacking wood inside.

The outer parts are stacked - so the pressure is towards the ground, on the inside its just lose with plenty of space.
Most of the Oak is outside facing the rain.
Defo not a 1 Line, cross stack Row. Its facing south, and gets plenty of sun and wind.
Ill gonna build another 2 beside it (will move the boxes away). Each time i will try a different stacking technic - ill keep you updated.
