The Serenity does not shut down when temp is reached it just kicks down to low, however the Serenity can be programmed to shut on and off at certain times of the day for the entire week, this may be a good option for the OP's situation.

So true...we just got a letter telling us how much more it is gonna cost us to continue to fill up once every 2 years. Propane companies suck!

Well, I did to switch to Irving, but that was thru an incentive program (they may be running another incentive - check their website). After that I was paying close to $3.00. Mind you that was still at least $1/gal less than I was paying with Amerig*s. I tend to also have very high propane prices because I don't use much. Of course, with Amerig*s, even though I was going thru 300-400 gals/month (before pellet stoves), I was getting walloped. Seems like you only get a break if you use over 2,000 gals and have your own tanks.

I am now using two 250# tanks from Irving (replaced a 500 gal. tank). They came and set them up for free. Looks like I could get a discount too if I get one of their rewards card from their gas station. I'm gonna have to look into that!

Thanks for the info folks. I really think the heat pump would be the best route but the cheapskate in me is making it difficult to pony up the cash.

7F6DCD42-4257-44D8-9D4A-1B3B6B90FF53.jpeg I would think some of the heat would make it into the main house?

This would be nice. Set it to turn on a couple hours before we get home and go out after bed time, then run all weekend.

there is also a timer feature that you can have the stove come on or shut off by the hour, so say it's 9 pm and your going to bed but you want the stove to run until 11 pm you just set the timer for 2 hrs. and at 11 pm the stove will shut down it works vice versa also.

There are a lot of stoves you can set up with a 7 day programmable thermostat, and even Wi-Fi capable.

Defiantly not looking for another thing to fool with. We have a 3 year old and are expecting #2 in January so time to mess around with another appliance is limited.

Well it’s looing like the heat pump is going to be the route we take. If the depot had the castle pellet stove in stock I would have bought it yesterday but I think the mini split sys is going to be the best fit for us.

    So close...

I can’t wait to call the propane company and tell them to come get their tank!

That may be what I pay this winter when they deliver - still, I can guarantee their much cheaper than the last company I was with. Also, I think I got a pretty good credit/cash back after I paid the first bill (part of the incentive). Never going to get it to a cheap rate just because we deal use so little.

This is complete crap, why should fuel cost be subject to your useage. I tried to tell the girl that but her response is it is industry practice. That it costs more because they come to your house less. It costs them the same to come out if they deliver 1 or 1000 gallons.

She was correct - industry practice whether you like it or not. Since all propane is trucked in (to only one storage port), and that is what most of the state's electrical grid is based on, they don't want to sell small amounts. However, she was also wrong; the girls was wrong - it isn't about how many times they come to your house at all (or not really).

I can guarantee that 99% of businesses sell on a volume basis - the more you order, the less it costs per unit for you. you buy one widget it costs $$$$, you buy 1,000, the unit price is $$. Buy a million widgets and each is only $.

    Thanks for the input folks.
The end goal here is to not care what the price is because we will no longer need it. Make any explanation you like charging one person 2.09 a gallon and the next guy 4.00 is just wrong.
