mdavlee juiced my 460 Stihl and It's HOT. This is the 5th 046/460 Stihl that I've had and made a living or partial living with. It is by far the strongest.
With an 8 tooth 3/8s sprocket and Stihl semi skip chisel ground chisel bit with 35 k joint it pulls 34" of spruce with authority.
Before the juice job it would do almost as well with 30" of wood.
Other than the fun of running a hot saw. Unless a guy is bushlin , ( a bushel) is 1,000 bd ft gross woods scale. A guy is wasting his money. .
Actually, a chisel chain grinder is a Far better use of the same bucks. .
A hot chain beats a hot power head all hollow.

They are going to be making a saw better than the 064, the MS500i. It is going to be 13.6lbs and 6.8hp. It is also fuel injected.

Sometimes it is good to have a woods ported saw with a good fast chain. When up in the mountains and been cutting and loading wood all day a fast light saw is much appreciated even when your a firewood hoarder.

If they do some of the good stuff with the user interface aspects, they will have a good saw.
Make it so it feels like a 441 3/4 wrap.
They had the 064 all figured out. It was a Great saw.
I have a friend that had just got a brand new one. Took it to work , totally stock. Running Oregon 52 AK. Chisel ground chisel bit. 103 drivers. 7 tooth rim. . his very first day with that saw he fell and bucked over 80,000 bd ft . woods scale. . Granted , he's a great faller and had a real good strip. But , the 064 is just a 5 cube power head. I know a few guys that have cut over 80 bushel with 051s .

I love my old 064. She's been gone through once with OEM slug & seals. Starts runs & cuts every time. Only saw I fell trees bigger than 12" with.

It IS ALOT of wood in 6 1/2 - 7 hours. 3 or more gallons of saw gas. Oh ya 4 bushel and bigger. But the best bushlin timber in S.E. AK. are consistent 2 bushel hemlocks with some nice 4-6 bushel snags thrown in. .

    Yep, ya missed a bit.

It ran well for a while at Walt's then back to not starting when hot. Unlike before, it acted as if it was flooded. One of the guys at Walt's, who was about 50 pounds heavier and a whole lot meaner than me, drop started it with the throttle wide open and that got it going again. I ain't of a mind to drop start a 91cc saw with the throttle wide open everytime I want to start it. Soooo... back to the shop.

That was me. I'll give you the 50 pounds, but I'm not really all that mean. Just ask Eric VW how nice I was when I found out he cut a beat up collins axe head in half to make a pickaroon.
Sorry Ralph in retrospect I should have shown you how to do the same thing with the chain brake on and bar tip resting on the grass or a round of firewood.

I'm sure that if the chuckle heads at your dealership would pull their heads out of each others nether bits and put the updated intake on it the flooding issue would clear up. You'll have a fine saw if they ever figure out which end is which!:picard:

I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt, but at this point, given the trouble you've been through, I have to agree with others I'd be demanding a new saw. They can tell with the computer how little the saw has been used. Its not rocket science! I believe there was a flipping service bulletin for both the coil and intake boot for pitty sake!

That line "the mechanics out today" is boiler plate for we will do the bare minimum to fix your saw, but when we finally feel like it, and after we let other customers go ahead of you.

If this dealer was a burger joint your burger would be getting spit on because you had the audacity to complain about it not being done right...

This story is really getting ridiculous, saw has been in the shop so long, your wood might Rot before you get it cut. :picard:
