my daughter and I must have picked up 2000 twigs and branches in the yard today, loaded them into the fire pit and lit it up. Then mama came out to play with her and I tackled the big pine top that blew down in the storm. Some of that went into the pit, and some just got dragged back into the woods where it came from. I was doing good until I grabbed the rake to start on the cleanup of all the needles and tiny branches. The torque on my upper back from raking was the straw that broke my back lol. I got about 90% of that cleaned up. A good portion can stay right where if fell, but I mainly wanted to get it off the small maple that it was leaning heavily on.

I see some more drinks in the hot tub in our future tonight.

It is a good day so far involving firewood and woodworking. The stove has been running all day on uglies and shop scraps.

I split more locust this morning and my son used the Kindling Cracker for a half hour to fill three 5 gallon buckets of white cedar kindling.

Nicely stacked in the wood crate by the stove.

I am getting close to finishing a re-purposed oak cabinet project in the shop.

I grabbed this beast of a 1940's 4 speed scroll saw. No time to work on this yet. It has a 24" throat and supposedly can cut thin mild steel with a metal blade. It must weight over 50 lbs, maybe 70. I need to read up on some manuals and do a thorough cleaning first.

I'll be firing up the mud oven in a bit for some pizza.

I'll be heading over the river with my neighbor tomorrow to grab some oak from the last storm. He has the truck and I have the saw.:handshake:

Well made some progress today. Not as much as I would have liked, but still managed to get the things done outside that needed to be done before it rains again tomorrow. Went to visit the Amish lumber yard and visited with the owner a short bit and his sons a little longer. These are the folks I bought all my lumber from to build the barn. Good family. I was glad to see them again. Five sons from 11-23 or so I guess. So I picked up some lumber I needed and some wood shavings my wife wanted for her horses. Finished some other errands before that as well. And picked up some chicken wire and staples at TSC. :picard:I could have been pulling stumps and working on the trails through the property, but noooooo, I had to be building a chicken enclosure in the barn. :loco:  I'll be alright!

IMG_4907.JPG IMG_4908.JPG Worked today until 13:30 and then got home clean our yard and then the inlaws. War Department notice a tree issue in her aunts yard next door to in laws. We had a long discussion about this guy when we covered the pool for her in September. (In laws and aunt in FL for the season)
I don't think it would've reached the pool after all

Today we had our annual Cub Scout hayride/bonfire. Cool, drizzly day, perfect day for a fire. Made the boys try to start the fire themselves with a fire striker and flint. Didn't really expect them to get it, but by golly one of the boys got a good spark and got it going!! Made a big pot of hobo stew and let that simmer over the fire for a couple hours. Had the hayride then came back and had chili, soup, our stew, hotdogs and smores.

Thankfully I was able to sleep until 5. I had a stretch of a few years where DST really started to mess with my internal clock for more than a few days. Ive had to make mental note to combat it with bedtime adjustments in the past few years, and that does the trick.

x 2...................wife, dog and I all suffered the same fate. It never used to bother me that much when I was working, but has become a real PITA since retirement.
