No prob. Until I found FHC, I thought I was the only weirdo who even gave a hoot about all this firewood CSS stuff… but, look at all the weirdos …
    We're all just a big dysfunctional family… :D

Does the ATV run out of power before running out of traction?

Tracks are cool. I have no use for them but I like looking at them on other people's gear. There's a brand new Polaris Ranger crew set up with tracks, long travel kit, etc, at the dealership on my way to work. I'm scared to know what the tag is on it.

How much snow up there now? I can tell ya, I'm REAL spoiled with my lil JD rigged with the claw. I take 6 times as long to move logs around in snow, doing it with ropes/pulleys and sleds and bullin. Takes some attitude adjustment. I've thought about trying to plow my trail down in the woods with a homemade V plow, or something, so I could use the claw, but I'd still have a limited use compared to being able to go anywhere now with the beast.
Just gotta go slow and slower… :tree:

Tracks on the rear and tires on the front would be cool. Hard to get the ratio right on a 4x4 though I would imagine.

Power and traction is not a problem at all. Almost nuts actually. I had the tracks on all year, back when I first bought the Suz. I was pulling logs off the back of my 5x12 trailer in slimy spring soft conditions. My GMC pick-up was hooked to the trailer. Nobody's gonna believe this next part (I still don't)… with the beast in low range, on pretty good ground (compared to the mud), I fetched up a log pulling it off the trailer, I just kept pulling figuring it would "come". It didn't… but the trailer and truck did, back about 6" on that slimy mud… I remember getting off thinking something had broken or bent… crazy. Guess the heavy load was like it was on ice or something. Dunno. Made me grin a little tho… :D

Yeah, couldn't run in 4x4, only just the rear. If I got stuck because of really sloppy mud, I knew I could put in it 4x4 just long enough to get it out. The wheels on front turn about 1/3 faster than the tracks, so you'd destroy your drive system pretty quick I would think, in 4x4 all the time.

    Looks kinda like a dragster… ;)

    Video woulda been nice!!!

Was using the rad for plowing  Tried angling the bucket back and do some skimming but need some chains on it. Have a bunch of tree's on the farm that need blocking so just gonna wait for the woods to settle down.

Yup, they're pretty cool… a little big but, it would be nice to ride side by side sometimes. Have been told by a couple SXS owners, that they also steer hard too. Your buddy ever mentioned that? It's too bad someone hasn't come up with a mini hydraulic steering that works. It would make a huge difference.

I thought it had power steering. It is almost as big as a small truck. The ride is unbelievably smooth.

The newer JDs have PS. But I think they are electric. Not sure about the other makes.

Yeah, my Suzuki has electric power steering too… Uh huh… not very effective… needs serious hydraulics to help it out with tracks on. Doubt if it ever happens tho… I get by, but after using it for a few days, my shoulders and arms know it. Good fer me prolly… :tree:
