Does ash have to be burned as soon as cut?

I got some ash that was cut down and I was told by a rookie that it had to be burned this year or it will be air next year ???

 

Burn it at your leisure, Ash will last a very long time.
Was it dead or was it green, fresh cut live tree?

 

Will be good for many years. Especially if kept dry and off the ground.

 

It will be fine if you c/s/s and cover it and use it in a year or two or three.
It doesn't vaporize of not used

If you had to burn green wood, ash is probably your best bet. Having said that, it will last years if properly stored.

The ash I've been burning was cut 8 years ago...maybe 9.

You can tell your buddy that it is really nice to handle though. Instead of having to carry it to the stove, it just sorts floats to it!!

Makes you wonder just how anything made from ash lasts for years and years, no?

 

I had a baseball bat made of Ash when I was a kid. It lasted several years.......and we beat the snot out of it.
I'll be burning some more Ash in the stove tonight that's been out in the stacks for almost 2 years, uncovered. It's been burning great.

 

If the wood was punky when cut i can believe the statement. I cut some up last year that I wanted to burn right away.

 

Would love to burn some but I don’t believe its found in these parts unless you find it from a landscape planting....
