I have used it twice so far and it makes it easier to get in and out of the bed. The tailgate comes past my waist so climbing in is hard without it. It's simple to put down and put up. don't know how long the nylon strap will last. downside is you have to drill holes and put screws in your tailgate. I did do the mods this guy did and it does make it sturdier.

I have a Ford, and the tailgate has the drop-down step in it. I L-O-V-E it. It is a very handy feature, being able to take 2 steps into the bed instead of putting the log rounds/sacks of feed, etc down on the tailgate, boosting myself up and then bending over to pick the item up again. A tailgate step is a great tool.

Nice truck, best of luck with it. The winch will come in handy for sure. My truck has a winch also, came from the factory that way.... But you have a factory Cummins which I can't add to my truck.

Thanks, the winch will get used. I use them for everything. I've pulled stumps up, trees up hillsides to cut up,pulled dead trees over, all kinds of things. I used the other one several times this summer. and if you have a zero turn mower you will eventually have to pull it out of a wet spot.

I too modded my tailgate recently. I took a different approach though.
    IMG_20171021_174636867.jpg

I had been in a rush to get our Church mowed one day. My utility trailer uses a 2" ball. Got home, unloaded the mower, weedeater and backpack blower then went in the house to grab a bite for lunch.

Finished lunch, watched a little news then headed out to hook on to the dump trailer and go cut a load of red oak. Filled the trailer with 115" straight logs, brought it home but didn't dump right away. I had a trip I had to prepare for and left for Massachusetts the next morning.

Got home a few days later and decide to go grab another load. As I am dumping the trailer I hear an "wham"! I looked back and saw the tounge in the air, then saw the logs slide back and push the trailer forward, nudging the truck forward. Dump trailer uses 2-5/16" ball and I forgot to swap a week or so earlier.

Getting in a rush doesn't pay. Although, now I have less to worry about when it comes to someone stealing my rust free tailgate.

This may get it's own thread.

Sum beach!! I’ve got a few stories from working in the equipment rental business about modified tailgates :picard: it happens....
Even modified my own with a real interesting pattern once it was called the flying broken chain pattern, ever hear of it? :D

Thank you, I have used that tail gate ladder several times now, wish I'd put one on the other truck long ago.

Changed the oil in the truck today and this is what I found, some quickie oil change left the old gasket stuck to the filter holder and put the new filter on top of it. I could tell it was loose and leaking taking it off. Never heard of service champ, this kind of stuff is why I always change my own oil. also put the fumoto oil valve on.
