    Cat,

Sorry to hear about your builder issues. We have been blessed with minimal issues.

As far as the winters go, being on a slab, I feel it's quite important to any keep water away from the site to minimize any frost heave and issues with settling of the slab. I also have gutters and have them draining underground and away from the site. Best of luck to you. Post lots of pics of your progress.

Lovely area. hope ours will be so nice one day. Its quite a mess right now.
Fortunately the 10' porches help with the sides. The gable sides are vulnerable.

Howdy neighbor. Welcome to the Hoard.
Nice looking place you have there. Two of my friends have built metal houses in the past few years. Very practical.
I'm an hour west of Fayetteville, an hour north of Ft Smith. What area are you in?

Welcome to the forum Cat and Lucy

HDRock is very correct in that the wood definitely should be split. Usually the sooner the better for splitting and yes indeed, in areas like yours where you get lots of mold it can be doubly important to get the wood split and stacked then top covered.

A little reading for your benefit and enjoyment can be found in resourses. Here is one that can be very helpful: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage or you can read it here: http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/documents/Primer on Wood Burning.pdf

It will take some time to read but hopefully you will find it helpful as many have.

Hello Fox9988, great to have some one from around here. Went to the ufa in Fayetteville (very long time ago).
We are north of Charleston about 45 min east of Fort Smith up in the hills towards Ozark.
Thanks Backwoods Savage, will read tonight. I agree with the splitting and wished we had had the time. We rushed throught the felling of a lot of the trees and put them up best we could because the dozer was coming the construction began.
Hubby is on his way out and we'll lay the floor tiles in the living room today. That's what the stove will be on.

GRJfer, that's a nice area up there. When were younger my husband and i used to go on little weekend trips and loved driving around the northern parts of mid and eastern Arkansas. Especially in winter when you would get some snow and we would only have rain.
