73880DDF-B655-4216-B674-36BAF86C6CBF.jpeg This is a Timing Wheel for Sthil Saws! I had mentioned it in my last Post. About pistons/cylinders. Hope someone will enjoy it. My next Post when I get the darn time, I will explain how it is used. Most engine builders may not agree with some of my techniques, but that’s alright. It’s used for Port Timing! Have a nice day....

It can also be used for ignition timing.

Is it a Stihl part or just a Stihl sticker. If it is a Stihl part what does Stihl want you to check with it. Porting is usually done after machining. Machining alters the port timing.

Good question...”Bullitt” the one in the photo is made by “Sthil “ and is solid. But you can drownload the ones you like and then print them off, if you have a color printer. Afterward you can paste them to a piece of aluminum making sure it is completely round and the center hole in drilled correctly. Have a nice day!

Surprised Stihl would sell something used for altering their factory ports...

I can't believe they would want you to check ignition timing. That is a dangerous process.

Nice to hear from you “Mag Craft” I just wrote a Post yesterday on Ported Cylinders in ending these were in it and why manufacturers don’t give you a warranty on modified saws first and foremost the E.P.A. Here are my last paragraph
Right now I don’t know of anyone using CNC machines to port cylinders only stock ones for all the big saw dealers. That is why there is more quality control in the mass amount of cylinders being machined yes if they wanted to they could produce cylinders that were already custom ported but the E.P.A. would frown about that. And secondly they would not be able to give you any kind of warranty because of the basic port to a higher performance cylinder. I have seen a CNC machine at work it is amazing. You chuck up a piece of stock in it and take a cad card insert it into the software programming and it goes to work, when finished its process, the product is in closer tolerance than a man make one, on a conventional lathe. That is space age technology. I just thought I would mention it in this Post. Have a nice day...

Yes CNC machining is impressive. I have a brother who programmed them for years and is now part owner of his own shop.

I knew he copied and pasted other people's work, I'm wondering why he copies and pastes his own.
