My property has a ton of black walnut. But it's dwarfed by the number of BW it used to have before the previous owner took them all down. You'd cry if you saw the tree and stump piles I have... :(

Is this going to be the first member on FHC with Stihl's newest 60cc pro saw? (60cc is a great size for what 90% of us do here) Can't wait for the pics/vid/reviews!

I think FTG-05 is the first. I'm not sure if it actually happened though since there are no pics.

I'm travelling my @$$ off for work right now so time is going to be limited for the next couple weeks, but I've got two big piles of wood basically in my back yard that need worked. I'll post some pics tomorrow and should have first impressions on Saturday.

Keep us updated on how she feels.

I am right on the fence right now with 2 different saws. Both Mtronic Stihls. This one and a little guy.

I wouldn't mind adding a 362C-M to my line up but if I was in your shoes Dex, I'd do the 261/241. If you do any tree work (as opposed to your log loads) you will appreciate the heck out of a saw like that.

Don't run one of the little ones, you'll be sold right there on the spot lol. I love 60cc saws, but having a 70cc saw... they just don't get any use. I've been in that boat a couple times, but the 60cc saw I couldn't part with is the 262XP. I know they are getting harder and harder to find so I figured when I grabbed one I would hold onto it. I did grab a nice shiny new Picco chisel for the 241 today, might even put a square file on it :D.

    Yes it is :)

I wonder why the E bar and no ES? Does it have a "Green" chain on it?

The sales rep was a bit of a fool. I worked out the deal over the phone...20" ES and yellow RS chain. I get there and it has an E bar and green chain. I said this is not what we talked about and I don't think he understood the difference. The manager apologized and said they were out of 20" ES bars and he would discount the E bar even more or he would order a new one. Not a big deal for me...always had an E bar. The sales rep proceeded to put a yellow label chain on backwards....after I untangled it for him...I took over from there.

I just started it up...second pull...sounds real good. I think this is going to have more low end grunt than the 361 because it snaps pretty good right off idle. Sounds deeper and doesn't have the same high end scream the 361 has...but I didn't rev it too hard though.

A touch heavier...but not much. Top shroud takes a little getting used to. Very well balanced with the 20". Hard to give a report just yet though.

These Mtronic saws don't sound like the saws of old. They do sound more "muffled" and mechanical.

But, a good muff mod makes them.sound much better.

I have a video of my 441C-M after Muff mod and port. She screams like any other saw, but does it faster, higher, and saves fuel while doing so.

I don't think it really sounds muffled though...all my in-laws have 290's and they sound muffled. This just sounds deeper...throatier. I'm sure a muffler mod would help though. I'm going to wait till it feels slow before that.

The muffler seems way easier to mod on this though...probably a 10 minute job...since the front comes right off and isn't all crimped together like the 361 was.

Most of these newer Stihls are less muffled than they were 10 years ago. If this saw is anything like my 241, there is no "birdcage", only an empty can, no baffling... nothin'. IMO, Stihl really has it going on with these newer saws, and their build quality if phenomenal.

Pics you want, pics you get:

My tools of logging all in one place. I made this carrier for another project back in late 1999/early 2000 then shelved it when I decided to not use an ATV for that hunting club. It sat in my garage until I repurposed it in late 2013 on the back of my Kubota L4330 tractor. It's attached via a 2" receiver hitch on my box blade.

A pic showing the chainsaw scabbards I made for my Husky 350 and Stihl MS-362 C-M. What's not shown in the +30" scabbard that will be used for my Stihl MS-440 Magnum currently being MM'd. That scabbard/saw will be mounted on the starboard FEL support bracket when I get it back from MM.

Don't look for my name, you won't find it in this pic. The Forrester 20" bar and chain came with the MS 440 Magnum; I ordered the MS 362 C-M with a 25" bar and chain (for a whopping $10) and that will go on the - wait for it - 440 Mag.

Gratutuous pic of my Kubota L4330, box blade, logging tool carrier and a small part of my 36'x76' shop. The doors leaning up against the Parts Store are remnants from our remodel of our new house we just bought. They'll be repurposed in the future into deer shooting houses on various parts of my 38 acre farm.

And just for the record: I ordered my MS 362 C-M on Feb. 13, 2014 and picked it up on Feb. 18, 2014.

    Thanks for looking!!!
