That's 'cause you live closer to the Equator. Better get the Beast ready.. Monday night is gonna be chilly ! (7) here to-date: (3) Sept., (4) Oct. so far. I'm playing those numbers! Pick 3 - Pellet & Beer money !
don't be holding out till November...or you'll get the and end up only had a few quick burns to take the chill out...not even 1/2 bag. but it's coming!
Beast is ready and 1 bags in the hopper(if that counts) Just need to switch the stat to heat. (Psst-Don't tell her I didn't plug it in yet- Must be sometin wrong with the stove!!)..................
I'll probly wait until the threat of the first really cold day in November... Then I will scramble to clean out the stoves... and then find that something doesn't work.. or needs tinkerin'.. You know... like the snowblower routine... What until the first storm.. Dan
my stove has been cleaned and ready since July.. that said, past 2 years my 1st burn was around October 15th.. very nippy nights.. couple nights this week we will be in the mid 40's here outside philly.. might just kick on the oil heat for couple nights... like to hold out to November but, we'll see.. filled oil tank year ago and only use for hot water... still using same oil.
I used part of 1. Likely add another tomorrow as it's supposed to get down around 30 tomorrow night. I also have a new furnace that I have to check out at some point.
As do I. I'm letting my new fancy NG triangle tube boiler take the edge off when necessary. Trying to figure out how all this technology works.....
Oops, Me forgot about you pellet hogs with several mouths to feed. Likely won't catch tt neither!! I'm good for a buck and a half(150 bags) if its warm to 180 something if its really cold. I getz a bit stingier as I get to my 4 ton limit!!
add me also to the list also. pretty nippy the other night so had to fire it up but no middle of the road pellets. it was either hamer hots, Ezblaze premo's..or okie plats. dumped in bag hamers.
5-7 tons burned annually here, so don't think you'll catch me. Haven't even started up the basement stove - and that is the hungry one (course, some of that heat goes upstairs plus keeps the floor above nice and warm)
When I only had the P61a, I went thru 4 tons for a partial winter - the stove was installed on January 7, 2014. I thought buying 2 tons and having them delivered with the stove (so no delivery fee) would be plenty. Boy was I wrong. OTOH - propane was at 5.50/gal (going thru $1k-1.5k propane/month), so I still made out.
We're all electric and the last time we used it(December 1995) it was over $500 that month. In went the wood eater........... Then the pellet eater. Up until 2002ish, Don't think we spent $500 for a whole seasons heat(back when pellets we only $150 something per ton ). Even today with 4 tons costing around $1200(for good chit). It would only take a couple of months to eat through that with electric! Stay warm bb.
