About a trailer load of good ole beetle kill lodge pole pine. Will be splitting and stacking in the next few nights.
You have to love the clay hills of Wyoming So many acres of dead standing lodgepole. Burn some aspen to start.
Actually it the Russian olive splits nice. Very reddish and straight grain. Saved a big round to see how it dries. Thinking of making a pedestal for some animal mount with it.
I would guess lodgepole, too. I generally do not go after Russian olive because it burns too fast. Very hot....but fast. Kind of stinks, too. In the spring when it blooms it puts out this kind of sweet smell that is bad.
Yep I burn Russian Olive too when I can get it. After it dries out real good then there is no longer any smell to it. The Lodge pole pine for sure has more BTU's than Aspen. Looks like a pretty good haul on the Lodge Pole pine there WaddleRemodel.
Won't burn the Russian olive until 18-19 season. All I did was drop my trailer off and the tree service loaded it.. Lodge pole has the best BTU's for my area. The aspen is starter and puts off a very bright flame. I'm always on the lookout for most types of wood.
I'll try to remember to take pictures next weekend when I head back up. Elk hunt is going on so I try to stay out of the way. Three weeks until my permit area is closed.
I may have bounced off the turnip truck at night..... but not last night. I just have a hunch about what this group might do.....
