Rope Around here school is cancelled if it gets much below zero. Kids can't even have recess outside if it gets down to 10. I think we can thank a lot of lawyers for turning kids and their parents into sissys. Back in the 60's school was cancelled one day due to cold. Couldn't get the buses started. Welcome to the site. Great to hear what other people around the country and around the world experience with all things "wood".
. Thank you for the welcome! You never know...Alaska is the largest little town. Bogydave and I are practically neighbors he’s just just the hill over. I am in his area for my kids hockey tournaments. You need to come come back for a visit this is a beautiful place for sure. She’s as beautiful as you remember.
Welcome aboard Rope!!! I see and understand you are a Vet! Great to have you here shipmate!, if you need anything military related, go hit up the military forums here. Lot's of good info and you have found the "BEST" group of folks on the planet!!!
I am afraid it’s more than just the lawyers. Don’t forget the political left and the mainstream media telling us to be PC while telling us to pick the turd up by the clean end. We need more tell it like it is...spade is a spade. Thank you for the warm welcome.
Well, yes it is! I just retired after 26 years of service and I've had lawyers call the "boot camp" and the Commanding Officer for the US Coast Guard because their 20 year old hasn't called home! I was Senior Enlisted there and heard and saw things that were incredible!!! Yes, mommy and daddy have lawyers on speed dial any more!
I talk to quite a few Coasties as they pass through on their PCS. Most going to Kodiak or Valdez all solid young men, we are lucky and glad to have them.
In the dirty south I don’t remember cold being the reason, but do remember the freezing rain being the problem.
Welcome to the horde (hoard?), Rope. Lots of good lads and ladies here. Thanks for joining us! I never remember school being called for cold when I was young, but it has happened a couple times lately for my oldest (16) when the buses had issues starting. Ice is a bigger concern, lots of windy hills here and too many miles of road in the school district for the sanders to keep up.
Thank you for the warm welcome. Seems like exposure to lilability is the deciding factor more often than not.
