I've got one of those on my property! A big blue ash I accidentally set fire to last spring when a fire got away from me while clearing some land.

I burned just over an acre, mostly scrub brush and dried pasture grass.

The blue ash had a small squirrel hole in the base and the flames found their way 20 feet up and out the top.

The fire company managed to get a 4wd pumper up to it and pump about 300 gallons into it through the hole near the top.

That tree still lives! I'll get pictures of it on Monday when I get back in town.

Thankfully my fire didn't cause the kind of heartbreak the people of California are suffering now.

I ment to post these sooner but sometimes life just interrupts the fun!

This is a big blue ash on my property that I turned into a chimney by accident last spring.

The flames went onto this tiny squirrel hole in the base of the tree.

The flames were coming out in a couple of places about 30 feet up. The fire company got a 4wd pumper up there and pumped about 300 gallons of water into the tree extinguishing the flames.

This gives a better view of how far up the flames were.

Along with this tree I burnt about an acre of scrub brush and pasture before the flames were extinguished.
