Yeah,,,, I've wondered this many times also. Stores here never run out. Even with a 3 footer knocken on the lake. I could prolly go 3-4 months pretty easy. A side of the freezer gets low I'm restockin.
I make buns instead of bread loaves now. Put them in the freezer and take out a few at a time. Or I tried making half loaves but that didn't work out so well as buns. If you want them for toasting, make like a hamburger bun style.
At .59/lb I'd clean the shelf too! .60 something for Chili? What store is this? That's like 1/2 price of what I'm used to seeing.
Careful guys. Some lawmaker is going to read this stuff and decide it's time to write some commonsense legislation to regulate bananas. That's the way it used to be. Folks had enough food in the house to get from one growing season to another. That's the way my grandparents lived. Makes a lot of sense to me. I love watching the evening news the day before a storm with the people scrambling to get that last loaf of bread or gallon of milk. Chickens!
I had to laugh on the bananas, every time I make a big pot of chili my wife has to have peanut butter and banana sandwiches with it. Myself, I'll take chili over corn chips or I'll cook a pot of macaroni drain it in a colender and then spoon the chili over the mac and have 'chili-mac'. love it this way. Can eat chili any time, even if it's 99 degrees outside. There is usually a pot of chili in our house at all times...! Chili-mac, mmm good...
That bare shelf was for the bananas... Maybe someone was making a whole lotta of banana splits... The other two pics where for the tomatoes and beans section...
