Long time lurker on this forum. Previously only on Hearth.com forum. I have run a Century S244 freestanding stove in my masonry fireplace for 1 year with a half-insulated SS liner and insulated block off plate, all of which I installed myself. This was my latest scrounge yesterday. Got a second load today. This was through Nextdoor, versus the more popular CL. Sign should have said "bone dry Free Wood." Though I haven't taken any moisture meter readings yet, but judging from the weight and reverberance sound of the white oak, it should be good to go for this year.
Welcome. Standing dead wood always good. Even better with oak! Hoard on! Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
Oh nicely done. I know we got someone here who does this with his car too. Can't remember his tag again. But hopefully he'll see this. I dunno if we got a car-loading thread around here but would be great to revive it during storm season!
It drafts well, throws out heat, and is sturdy construction. It's a small stove, but was necessary to fit in my existing masonry fireplace. I use it for supplemental heat, ambiance and potential backup heat. Also run a natural gas furnace. Didn't have enough seasoned wood last year so trying to get as fully stocked as possible.
Welcome to the forum 19glendale Nice truck in this picture! lol White oak is great and this is a good one for you.
Agreed with above. I still have mine and intend to put it in my small shop/garage. Believe I chatted with you last season. Tinfoil discussion, gaskets etc
