Best to never get caught up in the excitement of bidding, you can easily put too much into something sour. The few times I have bid on eBay, I would set a top bid and then just walk away and forget about it. If it won, good, if not, then good as well.
That's why I quit going to the public repo auction we have nearby...people go in there and find a red Mustang (or whatever they are shopping for) and then they stand there with their hand in the air until they win it...because, its an auction...its gotta be a great deal, right?!
Truck sounded like a cluster f anyway. In my experience buying modded vehicles is a no no. Unless you personally know who did it or saw how it was built. Probably why it popped! Wholesale is where it's at! The only ones worth going to are the ones you need a dealers liscence to enter. For cars/trucks at least.
I think truck would have lived a while running down the 1/8 or 1/4 but when he got running from the cops and running wide open for a few miles it could not take it. Who knows how it was tuned and how high the EGT's may have gone. I bought a car at an auction one time and did good on it. I still have it. What really kills you at the auctions here is the buyers fee. You also have to pay $50 to get a buyers card, to be able to bid. Most of the time stuff brings retail or close to it so it is not worth messing with. I've never been to a public auction. I just found almost the ultimate truck on craiglist. It is a F-350 with a 12 valve cummins and a ZF6. It sounds like it may need an engine and it has a rebuilt title and the guy wants too much for it.
I knew a guy back in school several years ago with the same setup,(f250 12v zf6 had a custom harness made etc) Ford and dodge guys hated it, I thought it was better than a Ford or dodge!
thats popular swap. generally better running gear on the ford, and supposedly that cummins is better than the 6.9-7.3-6.0-6.2, no matter what it is the are always trade off though.
I hate seeing a Chevy engine in a Ford. I think it is stupid. A Cummins in a Ford does not bother me. Cummins is an engine manufacturer not a automobile manufacturer. Ford used the Cummins the F-650 and F-750. To me that is the ultimate drive train in a truck, well with a diesel engine. The Superduty looks real nice with a Cummins under the hood. The engine bay looks so spacious.
There is a sweet 96 F-350 crew cab 4x4 SRW for sale near here with a Cummins and custom paint...looks cool! Last I seen they wanted $16k for it.
Actually I don't see it anymore now...but this one looks like a potential good deal...2006 Ford Cummins (Fummins) F-250 F250 4x4- Price Drop
Me too...my '03 SD is supercab Lariat, but the blue is more of a medium blue...can't remember the color name...you seen the color of it when I posted the pic on my 660 build sittin on the tailgate Edit, "sonic blue" Edit the Edit...I see that truck ad says its "green"...looks royal blue to me...hmmm
I don't remember the shade of blue in the '03. In '04/'05 the two blues were the darker (True Blue, which I bought) and the lighter (Wedgewood Blue). And, you're right, the pics on that truck do look blue, but guess we need a good "in the sunlight" shot.
