Making a slight dent in the pile. This is where I left off this evening. Four logs blocked and four more sprayed off and drying. Tomorrow after work I'll split and stack those blocks, cut those four logs into blocks and roll out four more and wash them off. It's supposed to be nice and sunny all week. If I can do four a night that's twenty logs during the week. It all adds up.
No problem doing it little by little. It just gives you a longer time to do the job and still enjoy the work.
I overestimated my abilities. After putting my stuff away after work and getting the splitter to the pile I just had enough time to split and pile the blocks I cut yesterday. Darkness comes at 7:30 so that's all I got done. Stupid orbital tilt!
Is it possible or practical to do all the cutting and then the splitting rather than getting stuff out every time? That alone saves a lot of work.
Not really. I have to wash every log off and then let them dry somewhat before cutting and I only have so much room for the logs to sit. I've stacked them wet before only to have them get surface mould but it was cold and rainy at that time. I'm off for a week in two more weeks so it's not a big deal.
Yeah, these poplars like to get an early start on leaf dropping. It's hard to locate the end of the hose after sitting on the ground for a day.
Just a solar ornament the wife had around. I really should put a new rechargeable battery in it. Your lighting is nice. Could do a lot of thing in there after dark.
Near the end now. I'll have to clear out that spot in the barn where I had some wood stored a few years ago for the rest of the pile. Still have some willow to cut that's hanging low over the hay field.
Not sure HDRock. The main section is 12'x16' and the far end section is 12'x8'. I can get seven full rows in it piled right up in between the roof joists and the last row in the front is limited by the "arches", where I'm piling it now.
