A friend at church lost her husband a few years ago. She sold her house and wondered if I wanted the firewood back in her woodshed. Sure!

Talk about Powder Post Beetles! It was very Dusty loading the trailer. This will mostly be used in my OWB, but I do burn wood in my shop on a rare occasion. Is there anything I should take into consideration re: these beetles? I'll keep it stacked far from my other wood. I'll only store a couple days worth in the shop at a time.

    Thanks in advance.

ETA, So far I've hauled one stacked trailer load and the one partially stacked then tossed since I realized I need to go back for about 3/4 load.

No, I didn't load the truck. I had to go get roofing supplies as soon as I got home.

No worries at all. You see the dust and the beetles are gone. We get a certain amount of that every year but just don't worry about it at all.

There are different types of borers, but I have never worried or had issues with any of them.

I can't say I've ever noticed a problem with these before with our wood. Maybe we burn it too soon, maybe it's because we usually burn mostly hard wood?

They don't get into all the wood. Seems they have favorites too.

I would use it only for the owb.
They are in many ways equivalent to termites and you do not want them near your home.
Usually they like damp-r wood but anything above 6% they can infest.
You can spray borate to help mitigate them.

They seem to prefer the swamp maple here.
Pretty sure they come and a go cuz I've never seen any in the house.

It is safe to say these little buggers like wood in general.
