Umm, ya, got the bag of dog food out of the truck finally, going to rest for a minute, and both of them are staring me down, however, I did give them 1/2 servings this morning so I would not have to carry the bag in :picard:.

We did, we bought one from the little girl that was allergic to them and it's working out great!! Neither cat or dogs are even interested in it, and lil one has zero inhibitions hauling him around :D This was the night before last, used those blasted large legos that I broke my foot on-but still fun to build him his own castle hee hee.

Uhmm, going through an overnighter tonight. New rescue dawg, name is "King". So far so good, but the cats will take a while to warm up to him. We have him from the shelter for the next week if we want. 1 yr. old Shepard/Lab mix, already 66lbs. His short story is pretty rough, hit by a car, broken leg that healed on it's own, walks with a funny gait but gets around fine now. Was on a 2hr. death list before our shelter agreed to take him. Really "derpy" gaze, due to the coloration of his eyes. But he seems good and if the cats warm up to him and he doesn't kill any of them, we'll have a new pupper.

Had a rescue dog years ago that had a crooked leg. We were unsure if it was from a break that healed on its own or if it was a growth plate issue but the vet said that as long as it didn't bother her, there was no reason to take X-rays just to find out the reason. She was young when we got her and she was a very happy and energetic husky/heinz57 mix and she got along just fine. This pic is shortly after we got her (can tell she is still puppy-ish). Her fron leg on the left shows the crookedness. BTW - that husky was Bogie - from whom I took my screen name from.

Hope the dog you are fostering fits in well with the rest of your family!

Timber went hunting for the first time today. We didn't see a single grouse but she did awesome for her first time. She's money on all the basic obedience commands and she isn't afraid to plow into the brush. At the very start of the morning, and near the very end of the trip, we had issues with her ranging too far. But she's still just a puppy. She is one tired dog now. 20170910_105556.jpg 20170910_105056.jpg 20170910_105402.jpg

Most of our training has been obidience stuff. As long as she will stay or come when told then I can get her out and keep working on the rest. To get her used to gunfire, I started by firing an unloaded pellet gun while throwing her toys. Then I had my dad come along on some hikes and fire a .22 from a distance while I threw a ball for her. Then I moved up to shooting a .410 while throwing a ball. She's good with gun shots and knows it means she gets to chase something down.
Our most recent effort is playing with a bumper that has a bird wing zip tied to it. I'm by no means an expert on this stuff and just going by things I've seen online and in books.

Charlie won't keep a collar or harness on and keeps losing them. We are trying something different.
