Kind of a crap shoot this time of year for us when the tropical weather drags the humidity up this way.
Went to big blue box store just after 6am. Couldn't find the stove cement or 5" damper plate. Two employees helped me and found both. The cement was in a cardboard box without the labels showing. The damper plate was in the wrong bay. The two workers were very helpful and I couldn't thank them enough for getting me on my way. I got back home and cemented the inner side plates back and inspected the stove. I also forged up a longer rod for the damper plate so I can actuate it from the front of the bricks without reaching behind the stove. Nice clean lines and it is not very noticeable. Maybe I'll sweep the flue next.
Dang, you answered WW before any of the rest of us could chime in with a "x2" or "x3" or some such number Hope you had a great Birthday!
I better put in a decent amount of work tomorrow, the boss will be cooking a 12 pound turkey with all the fixin's.
Still no fire, but I finally broke down and closed all the windows last night. I need to come up with a few wood racks soon, or at least one for now. I cant load into the enclosed porch until we are done with that for the year. Mama wouldnt be happy to come home and see all the furniture rearranged/pushed to one end, and a cord of wood in its place.
Monin all... ... looking forward to a reunion today. Lots of old friends, good music and plenty of stories... ...
I've worked Saturdays for a friend off mine for 25 years and yesterday I "retired". He's a teacher and a contractor and he sure taught me a lot over the years. Its time to spend more time with my wife.
Not weird - very OKay. After spending all summer break in each other's company, it is a bit of a shock when I go back to work.
It is supposed to rain all day today so bookkeeping, Blue Jays and curling to watch today. Almost got the back of the Cowichan sweater done after re-knitting it three times. I really have to concentrate on the pattern, not the ball game.
